Poll: Would you buy a 6.5ft bed SuperCrew?

I'm not up to speed on how to use the voting button options, so I posted it this way.

I've heard this will be offered in 06', but that's an awfully long wait. I'm guessing most guys will still buy Ford as I would, but I think they missed the boat on this one.

I'd really like to know how many guys that are buying or have bought the Supercab would have spent a little more money and opted for this and/or how many guys in the SuperCrew camp would have opt for this one instead.

The real question may be how many guys have bought the 1500HD that would have bought Ford instead?

Yes or No guys. For me it's a no-brainer. I would buy one soon if they had this truck. For now, I'll hang onto my 97' Lariat Supercab.

I guess I'm hoping enough guys mention this to their dealers that Ford bumps this up in priority. It took Chevy about four years to offer the 5.5ft bed and Ford looks to move even slower with this model.

Kind of funny, I get numerous requests for a 6.5' SuperCrew that doesn't get built, and I never once had a request for a Supercab 5.5' and thats now availble. Sometimes I wonder who they talk to about what to build.

Would buy the 6.5 foot Supercrew in a heartbeat, instead of waiting, opted for the Supercab 6.5 foot bed. Oh well, guess I will just have to trade again later.

I actually prefer the 5.5' bed. I recently purchased a 04 SCrew and would not have wanted it any other way.

I actually test drove a 03 Chevy 1500HD CrewCab ( or whatever they call the real 4 doors) just a few weeks ago. I really liked the interior. That is about all the good things I can say about it. Talk about a POS. The thing handled terrible. No kidding, I was afraid to drive it. Anyway, I don't need a 6.5' bed, so all the better.

BTW, Chevy currently does not offer a 1/2 ton truck with 4 real doors.

Prefer the 5.5 bed, I wouldn't of bought my SCREW if it was a 6.5. If I wanted a bigger bed I would of went SCAB or F250.

With the 2001 - 2003 SuperCrew, I'd have bought one, well- a different one if they had lowered the rear end, and slapped on a 6.5 Ft flareside bed.

That wouldda been Scwheet.

No, the truck would be too long, making it dificult to park, and less room in my garage.

I just hung dry wall in my garage. I used a 5x8 trailer to carry 10 4x10 sheets home. I ended up 3 sheets short, so I hopped in the truck and went back to HD without the trailer and bought some 4x8 sheets. Those 3 sheets loaded just fine with only a 6" overhang. The overhang makes it easier to strap the ends down, since you'r not going to close the tail gate on a 6 1/2 foot box anyhow.

Ford and Dodge of the Big Three (4 if you consider GMC/CHevy separate) are the only ones not offering a 6.5ft bed on a supercrew and I've been bitching about that to Ford for quite some time now. For one, I think the supercre with a 5.5ft bed not only makes the truck look "midgety", but also serves no point. Ford is just trying to be "linear" and wanting EVERY model of their trucks to be the exact same size in width. So, if you add to two extra doors, it cuts in to the bed size.

They also told me that it has to do with keeping costs down to the consumer because they'd only have to make ONE body style. Still...

MY ANSWER IS YES. What I said above is the actual reason that's keeping me from buying a supercrew F-150... i'll just stick with the supercab...but i would have prefered a 6.5ft bed... maybe I'll wait to see if Ford finally listens and adds one for the 05'

and no truck could be "too long" in my opinion... plus, if you park your TRUCK in your garage then you obviously aren't using your truck for "heavy loads" anyway... you definitely fall in to Ford's marketshare of those that just use them for everyday driving where a 6.5ft bed isn't that bid of a deal to you...

I think I would buy one with a 6.5 foot bed, and I for sure would buy one with an 8 foot bed. Although that would NEVER happen.

I would NEVER buy one with the 5.5 ft bed, it is WAY too small. I consider the SCrew more of a SUV than a truck. The only thing its good for is towing or hauling flowers etc.

6.5 feet is the bare minimum for me, thats what I have now and it works, but barely. Whenever I have the fuel transfer tank (for hauling diesel fuel out to equipment in the field) in the truck there is not much room for anything else. And I cant use my crossover toolbox because it takes up too much of the bedspace. With an 8 foot bed I can have the toolbox, and the fuel tank, and still have the space I have now with just the fuel tank.

I dont really need a crew cab right now, but there are times that it would be nice...especially when rugrats come along.

Oh well...there's always the heavy duty trucks.

My '97 Splash has a 6' bed. The SuperCrew I get next year will have a 5.5' bed. What do I put in my bed right now? A dirtbike and my bass cabinets. It works. It'll work next year in a new truck. I'm happy. That's good enough for me.

I would buy a F-150 screw with a 6.5 bed right now. A 5.5 bed is too small.
It’s sad that you are forced to get a ¾ ton truck just to get a screw with a 6.5 box.
For 2004, Chevy is offering for the first time, a ½ ton truck with a crew cab, but it’s only going to have a 5.5 bed. Chevy would have 1 up on Ford if they offered their ½ ton crew cab with the 6.5 box.
An 8 foot bed is called a long box, a 6.5 bed is called a short box, but to me a 5.5 bed should be called a mini box.

I would buy one in a heartbeat. I don't know why Ford has not done it yet. I wonder if people flooded Ford with e-mails and letters if they would build the supercrew with the 6.5ft bed sooner than 06.
