Got a Line-X
Got a Line-X
Well, I was trying to hold out for the rest of Brewmaster's results of the spray-on liner testing... but I had to go get one. I went with Line-X because I knew I didn't want a Rhino, and they were my first choice.
I also had the front windors tinted a bit and gave it a good day's work of polishing. Toreador Red is an awesome color.... the depth of it really comes out after waxing. Smooth as glass !

Nice job on the Line-X. After seeing this...I might change my mind from going with the Bed Rug. Looks like they did a real neat job. I notice the bolts in the bed were untouched by the spray. I'm assuming they removed them prior to spraying. Did they recommend that or was that your decision? Are they the only bolts that hold the bed to the frame? Could it possibly move with the bolts removed? Great looking rig wingn8ive!
BigJim ~ I'm not sure what the legal amount of tinting is, but I went with 35% (medium) and it cost me $70 for both front windows to be done. It's light enough to be seen through and still blocks most of the sunlight and all of the glare. I think that as long as a shadow can be seen through the tint, it should be fine, but I guess it depends on the cop who pulls ya over...
dunnbrother ~ They really did do a great job on it. I'm very please at how it turned out. They took the tailgate off and removed all of the bolts and tie downs out of the bed and tailgate before they sprayed it, which is how it should be done. The bed's not goin' anywhere... the bolts are securely back in place. They usually premanently afix a plaque, or an advertising label, in the bed with the Line-X name and the dealer's number but I asked them not to put it on mine... NO FREE ADVERTISING !

wingn8ive, i was down in your hood tonight. i was at my buddy's on Jocotal near the 55 and Katella. i thought of you when i was down there.
i think line-x is the way to go, and i haven't even tested it. no Rhino, that's for sure. and Diamond Liner is basically the same as Line-X (they use the same chemical suppliers). i will still go through with my testing, but i have a feeling i will be getting a line-x. at the Off Road Expo today, the Line-X booth was giving out coupon books that had a coupon for $50 off a line-x spray-in. that would bring it down to $330 from my local dealer ($380 regular price). how does that compare with what you paid wingn8ive?
also, i agree on the free advertising plaque, thanks but not thanks. you truck is sweet wingn8ive. congrats on the advancements. i will probably get mine sprayed this week or next.
BTW, wingn8ive, how did you get your sig to work with a link to your gallery? mine don't work...

wingn8ive, where did you get it sprayed and how much?
btw in CA, the only way to be legal for front windows tint is clear. ANY tint that darkens the window is illegal. It depends on cops if they want to give you the hassle of the tix.

Hey BigJim I had my windows tinted on my current truck when I was @ Dyess AFB in Texas. When we moved here the first time I took it off base I got pulled over by the C.H.P. They gave me a "fix it ticket". I had to remove my side tint, taillight covers, window visors, and put back in my stock front turn signals. After I removed all of this I had to have a cop sign off on it. The CHP trooper said all of those things stated were illegal even though I had Texas plates. About 4 months later I went to ALS and talked to some S.P.s. They all said it was legit. So If you get you windows tinted You run the risk of having to remove it.

I had my windows on my Splash tinted Limo Black. I had no issues for 3 years until I was racing this fool in some POS ricer and I got stopped. (This was back in the day when I didn't GAF and raced 5.0L Mustangs. ((See, I have a 4.0L Splash. The stepside bed is composite, so the truck was light as hell. I got dusted a lot, but I stuck with them for a while.
)) )
I got pulled and got a fixit. The damned Sherriff didn't care and just signed it. Thanks. $125 down the drain. I'd do it again. I will do it again when I get my FX4. Or something.

Why did you decide against the Rhino lining? I've got a 04 FX4 Flareside Scab arriving mid-Oct and am sure about a spray-in liner. However, my only choices are Rhino and Toro. Right now I'm going with the Toro. The dealer says that Rhino only has a 2200 PSI tensile strength, while the Toro has switched to a 3300 PSI tensile strength material. Anyone have any input on Toro?
no input on Toro, but I tested Rhino and it ain't got 2200 psi tensile strength. see this thread for my results so far:

Brewmaster ~ 55 & Katella is right around the corner from my house... 5 minutes. $50 off ! That rocks... that makes the choice a no-brainer. I paid $375.50, out the door, for mine (w/ a $20 off coupon). The difference for me was that this place applies "Endura Gloss" topcoat automatically, as part of the procedure. Most places charge up to an extra $100, on top of the liner cost, for Endura Gloss. That's suppose to give the liner a little extra protection, from premature aging and fading, etc.

rcantu ~ I got it done at:
LINE-X BEDLINERS
1430 S. GRAND AVE.
SANTA ANA, CA. 92705

It's between McFadden and Edinger, across from Century High School, for anyone who may live in the area and gives a hoot.

Can't believe it...no dealers in NJ!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFA...just checked the Line-X dealer locator and there's not 1 dealer in NJ. Looks like I'll have to ride about 2 hours into NY State to get it. Seems Rhino has more popularity in NJ. I see them advertised quite a bit. Oh well...2 hours of ride in a new F150...can't beat that can I?
