i wouldn't worry about being their first project. i mean, it ain't that difficult to do. as long as they prep correctly, ie covering all surfaces that need covering, you'll be good to go. the mixture is something controlled by Line-X. dealers buy the machines from Line-X so the mixture is not a concern. they should let you watch them do the whole process as my dealer did this past weekend. who knows, maybe they will give you a grand opening discount. good luck.

Isn't there a coupon too? If I recall correctly, do I call or e-mail Line-X for some samples to get the coupon?

You can get it by going online at their web site.

Apparently the cost differs wildly-- Here in MA I got a quote for $475, which is crazy. Not sure what I'm gonna do at this point.

was that form Line-X? call them back and tell them they are insane. average cost is between $350-$400 without any coupons. usually $365 to $380 for short beds. i am speaking for Line-X prices, I do not know about the other guys. over $400 is a rip. as stated before, i paid $377-$50 coupon = $327 out the door.

The price quote I received from my area Line-X dealer was $389.95 with a lifetime warranty.
Price does not include $20.00 coupon.

all Line-X jobs come with a lifetime nationwide warranty issued by Line-X, not the individual dealer. I would shop around if there are other Line-X dealers close to you. You could save another $20 or so on that price.

Hey, if Line-X takes out the bed bolts when they spray in the liner, what keeps the bed from falling off the truck? I assume they have to get inside when they spray it. Why doesn't it tip off?

Also, do they always just take the bed bolts out, or do they ask you first if you want them out?

you assume wrong my friend. they don't climb in the bed. it goes nowhere. they took the bolts out without asking me. i think that i standard procedure unless you say otherwise.

Ooooo, they scuff the bed. I can't watch that. Looks like there's no margin for error if it dries in 3-5 seconds.

Line-X

The reason they remove bolts, tailgate screws, tie down hooks/screws is so that they are "free", i.e. can easily be removed later. Generally you have to make an appointment to bring your truck in (my local Line-X place pretty much stays booked). You drop it off in the morning and pick it up later, sometimes you can wait for it. Most of the time they will be working on several trucks at once as the actual spray process takes the least amount of time. Most of the time is spent in "prep". They mask off the truck with wire embedded tape ( the wire is what is used to give the clean edge. the truck is backed into to the spray area that has overspray curtains to protect the cab with masking and plastic or paper sheeting to protect the rest of the bed. I'm sure that Line-X has some type of training on the product before they just let the franchisee go. I think if someone is a decent paint sprayer, he will make a good Line-X installer. The liner is made up of SEVERAL coats sprayed in different directions ( i.e. up/down. side/side, diagonal). I think you WILL be pleased.
