Not a happy 04 owner......new motor already?

Got a call from the dealer today...as many of you may be aware of I was suppose to get my truck back today...with the new "lifters" in....well.....negative as I suspected. Seems that they put them in and it is still making the noise and they have no clue what it is. They were having Ford Engineers come in and take a look at it. He suspected that I will be getting a new motor pulled off of the production floor and having it replaced. This is crap....I am paying over $600 a month for a vehicle I can't drive.

I'd like to them to compensate me by buying me a set of those nitto tires.

Actually I am hitting them up for a bed liner.

Anyone have any experience with being "compensated"?

well, how long have you had the truck? Because i know theres alot of lemon laws on this sorta thing. If they can't get it fixed in so so amount of time, they keep the truck, you get a new one or money back, things of that nature. I also think that ford will knock a payment off for you on occasion on a case to case. Check local laws. Good luck.

The only compensation I've ever heard of is a 'loaner car'. Did you get one?

I've had the truck for about a month and a half.

I'd be curious about having a payment knocked off as well.

better yet, have your lawyer call them and tell them you want a a better loaner, a payment or two knocked off, and a bedliner put in. that'll get their attention. you will probably get the better loaner, and the bedliner. the payment may be harder to get, but certainly worth a shot. and as far a a lightning for a loaner, in your dreams...

I can´t believe it will take that to fix the problem. I wonder if the other cases I have heard of will require the same fix. If the big boys from Ford get involved I bet something will happen quickly. They wouldn´t want a lot of negative publicity right at product launch. The good thing is Ford won´t allow anybody to take that engine further apart if they do put a new engine in it. I have heard of cases where they send a complete engine and have the old one placed in the crate and sent back in as close to an untouched state as possible. They won´t waste a lot of time guessing and swapping parts. Well, good luck on all of that and let us know what becomes of it.

I sure wouldn't want someone to take may motor out of my new truck and put another one in. I'd what a new truck If I could get one.

Just thinking of some one doing that to my new 35,000 dol. truck makes me sick .

This reminds me of a problem I had with Oldsmobile years ago. Demand the best vehicle on the used truck-car lot to use as a loaner. Remember the slogan BOHICA.....
Bend Over, Here It Comes Again. Better to be the one doing it than having it done to!

I know its a pisser but look at the good side. Your truck has a problem with the engine. As opposed to taking the usual road and making you bring it back over and over. They have stepped up and are getting you a new engine for your truck.

My luck it will be the engine that was supposed to go in my truck and I'll get recycled.

Most lemon laws require repeated trips for the same problem (SC requires at least 3 trips with no resolution)

should be a website for your state. You could just google it and find your state's gov. website or dept. of transportation. dig around and you should be able to find info on consumer bill of rights in your state.

ketch
