It should be the same one the dealer would install. It came from a Ford Dealer.

It was easy to install just time consuming. Two screws go into two holes under the hood on the edges, then little flaps go between the hook and the grill.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks,
Scott

Question Sunroof

Hey Scott,

Very nice truck! I have one order my self and was debating on whether to get the sunroof or not. I didn't want to give up the entire rail system, however the sales guy informed me that all you get is a small one to hold your glasses up in front.

Is that the case, did you get anything over the back seat.

This is the first pick with the sunroof and it looks great!

Thank you!

No rails are over the back seat. At first I was worried about not having the overhead rail kit. Then I thought about it...

1) I dont need a sunglass holder above me. The center console is HUGE anyway!
2) I dont need a DVD system on the roof (i'll mount them in the headrests for less then $500 if I want TV's!)
3) Sunroofs are great!!

what is the purpose of a sunroof. you shouldn't be looking out them when driveing unless you want to get in a accident. I supposed if you hung arround in your rigg when it wasn't moveing you would get a pretty good view of the sky. of coarse you could get a better vew of the sky if you hung out outside your rig when it wasn't moveing. I suppose it could serve some use to the passengers in your rig. I suppose if you went to the drive in alot and wanted to see the stars while watching the movies that might work but I don't know of many driveins arround any more. not trying to dits something you obvously like but just don't see much use in them. would be curious to hear what what use you get from them. it seems that so few people choose this option now days that I would have thought ford would have discontinued the option. I would be curious to hear from those people on here that like that option and what use they get from it.

I will get a sunroof. But not for the reasons you think. I don't know anyone that stares into the sun whether driving or otherwise, that's just nuts. It's basically like having a convertible. You let the sun and the wind and cool night air wisp around. I don't see people with convertibles driving around with their faces to the sky. I still can't understand where you came up with that one.

Like most things in life, there always seems to be tradeoffs...

The moonroof is a nice option IMO. Most important (to me), is the fresh air it allows in, and the ventilation it provides. With a truck, a moonroof allows you to keep the windows rolled up, the back slider open and the sun roof cracked open a bit, and you have a nice flow of air, with far less wind noise than cracking the side windows open. When the weather is nice, the fresh air and daylight is a welcome addition to the driving experience.

The down side... You have a giant permanent roof penetration. If they work without leaking, that is great, but that isn't always the case. Often, a moonroof adds a bit to the noise floor.

The storage rails may add some function, but my initial impression is that they are an overhyped gadget. These overhead storage does intrude somewhat (if not just visualy) in to the cabin space. They also have great potential to be a source of annoying rattles. But they do serve to differntiate the Ford product from the competition, which I suspect is the reason they were added in the first place.

I could live with either choice, but the moonroof seems to have more advantages to me. My girlfriend has some ideas that definitely make the moonroof the more *fun* choice... unless someone comes out with a swing attachment for the rail system!

thats interesting I can understand the air intake part of it. I do agree about over head rail system being overhyped. when I first seen it at the dealer I wasn't that impressed. but maybe somebody will make something usefull like a gps system that mounts up there or something. I will wait and see what comes out. I am sure the aftermarket people have all kinds of ideas on what they can make to put up there.

I'll be going with the sunroof for ventilation, but mostly because I don't like the rail system. If it were completely filled to the point that it looked seamless I might like it better. But even if you put the max number of modules in, it doesn't contour in the back, you still have a gap.
Not for me.

Another question. Where did you hook the power cable for the Roady into. I don't even have my truck yet and I am already thinking about how to install this thing!

What? No rims yet?

Kidding, I know that's an investment-

I can't wait to see a S'Crew rolling on 20's or better.
