Largerst Tires under a 04?
If I were to guess, 285/70R17 for the standard rims. 305 may or may not work. On current models, most people haveto crank the torsion bar to increase the front end height. The 04 does not have a torsion bar in the front so there is not adjustment you can do.
If one has the 18" rims, 285/65R18 should not be a problem. I did a quick search and noticed that Tirerack only sells the BFG TA AT KO in 285/65R18 and two tires in 275/65R18. Nothing larger than 285.
I don't believe anyone has tried larger tires yet on this board. Has anyone replaced the OEM tires with larger?

i'm going with 305/40/22's or 305/45/22's on mine....everyone i've talked to says no problem....the 40's are the the exact height as the 275/65/18's on the lariat (what i ordered). The 45's are about .5 to .75 inches taller...of course thats on 22" rims

I think Ill be going with LT285/65/R18's on mine. Basically 33's. The only thing Im worring about is the width on the rear. Yall putting the 305's on might have to worry about rubbing against the shock if your going with stock rims.
I just got back from Discount Tires and their computer is telling them that the largest diameter tire is 32 inches. I want to get the BFG Radial All Terrain TKO's that come out to 32.9 inches but I'm not sure they'll put them on or if they'll fit right.

285/65R18 comes out to 32.6".
If you have not picked up your new truck yet, work out a deal with your local installer for them to buy back your OEM tires. I sold my OEM Goodyear RTS tires to a Discount Tire store and they gave me $300 credit towards another set. But they would only do this when the tires were very new, less that a coupel hundred miles. If you wait until 1000 miles, your tires are almost worth less. So, work that out before you take delivery and they get the new tires ordered for you.

So the 32.6 fit with no problems? I have 17 inch wheels. He's saying the stock tires come out to 31.1 or so. An extra inch and a half would be nice.
I too am working with discount tires and they said they'd take the old ones back too. They'd have to figure out the price. I'm still not sure exactly which tires I'm gonna get with the truck! I've got 31 inch tires on my stock Ranger!

What overall size (32"?) do the 275/65/18's (Lariat option) equal out to be?....What is the max size you can put on without seriously harming the truck? I am looking at either 305/40/22's or 305/45/22's....what sizes do those total out to be?....
What is the formula for figuring overall size?

32.6 is close enough to 33 for me. A little smaller actually works better for turning purposes.
Like I said though, with those new outboard rear shocks, the width is something to think about. The BFGoodrich website says these tires are 11.5" wide on a 8.5" rim.
Does anyone know the width of the stock tires? Hopefully close to the same.

Oh, you'd want 4.10 gears with those tires.

32.07 is what the 275/65/R18s formulate to.
