any one know the stock width on the 17 inch rims that come on the 2004 F150? I heard 7.5 but I am hopeing for 8 or 8.5. I believe I will have to have my speedometer recalabrated for the 285/70/R17"s I plan on putting on it. dose any one know if tire stores like discount tires have the computers to do this or will I have to go to the dealership to have this done?

I'm pretty sure 7.5" but you can still put a pretty wide tire on that rim.

Oh, 17" rims. You'll be getting 255/70R17 which is 31.1" in diameter. 285/70R17 is 32.7". I doubt there would be any problems with 285 vs. 255 on the new F-150. That is anout half an inch extra on each side of the rim vs. stock. I just wonder if the new rims are narrower than the -03 models at 7.5". It would not surprise me, especially if they are using 255 instead of 265 like every 4wd 17" rim combo prior.

Jasonkola, I suspect the 17" rims are 6.5-7.5" wide and the 18" are 7.5-8".
