New rumor, and an old one put to rest

I must first preface by saying that I am aware dealers know nothing. I just was at one yesterday and heard a new rumor. I know these carry no weight at all, just thought you all might like to hear it. Kind of amusing. Again, I knew more than he did.

Dealer told me: Ford was holding back a lot of trucks to coincide with the kickoff of the NFL season. Apparently due to some sort of marketing thing they are partners in.

Dealer didn't tell me this next one, I just saw it for myself. Any two-tone paint delay rumors can be extinguished. I saw an Aspen Green XLT Supercab yesterday, on the lot, w/ silver two-tone paint.

Yes, I agree, if you read this forum enough, you can almost put the peices together. Something is going on with the SCrews and 2 Tone paint. In fact there's something going on with the SCrews in general. No one on this forum seems to have identified it yet. Only rumors are flying....

there is definitely something going on with SCrews....they've been producing them since 07-14/07-18? and there are hardly any, if any at all, hitting dealerships. Has anyone actually took delivery on a SCrew yet?

Keep in mind that while only the Kansas City truck plant produces the SuperCrews, that the SuperCrews aren' t the only trucks they make. They still produce the regular cabs and SuperCabs, too, as far as I know.

That means that there aren't that many SCrews being built.

From what I heard, and this is just second hand so I do not give it 100% accuracy is that they just started producing Screws on 8-25 (This Past Monday) that is why we have not seen them on dealer lots yet....

I don't think that's entirely correct. From what I've read on this site, they started shipping SCrew's on 8/18 so they've apparently been producing them for a while.

The NFL thing is kind of true. The F-150 launch is scheduled for September 4th and is being called F-150 Kick Off weekend. You'll see new F-150 commercials on EVERY football game. They were trying to get the trucks to arrive about this time. Ford promised that every dealer would have at least 1 truck by Sep 4th. So yes it is kind of true. From what I understand the ad campaign for the new F-150 is going to be EXTREMELY large.

As for the Two-tone, I think there has been some confusion here. I don't think that there was a problem painting two-tone, just a problem building more than a certain % with them. Ford has this problem all the time, not just on a new launch. I can't remember the last quotes, but I think it had a limit of 20% (don't quote me) two tone on SuperCrew.

screws

We have been producing them since 7-14. They were released to dealers on Aug. 18. We should be seeing them on dealer lots any day now. Maybe even today because the marketing campaign with the NFL starts tonight.

I've also heard that Ford is going to do Mass media blitz coinciding with the football season. Mass as in the biggest Fords ever done.

That's true... especially considering they'll be reaching 90% (if not more) of their target demographic in the first airing during football. They've thought this one through, from a marketing standpoint.

My dealer has 6 SCREWS on the back lot. They haven't been prepped for sale yet though.

SuperCrews are currently being held back from the public until approx. Oct. 28th, 2003. The reasons giving, by the Ford Marketing Association is “to give the public time to adjust to the sticker shock of regular cab 04 F150’s, when the public sees the price on these baby’s they will just sh*t’

Sorry people but I can not give any more information on my source/sources. I assured “this person/persons” with my word.

Any other rumors you would like me to put to rest please post and I will get back to my highly reliable source/sources team…
