imlay city ford in imlay city michigan had a 2004 f150 super cab fx4 and they were letting people drive it. i took it for a drive around the block and it was a million times better than my '03. The steering was tight just move the wheel a little and the truck turns right around. went through town and you can't here a thing. I put the gas pedal to the kitchen and you can barely hear the engine. it had everything in it the power sliding back window and the back of the super cab is huge compared to mine. The truck looks great, picked the hood up and the grille goes with it. If every one drives this once there will never be a chevy or dodge sold again. That truck is perfect.

 

That's how Ford tries to build `em! I can't wait to test one!

 

So the grille pops up with the hood? Sounds kinda 'Dodgish'.

A frequent driver of the 04 had a gripe about the premium cloth seats on the 04 he drove. He claimed of a contoured roll (front to back) with a structrued hard spot in the middle. Very unconfortable he claims. Did you notice anything like this? Was the suspension too squishy? Did the interior look too cheap and plastic, especially the floorshifter? I cant wait to see my own truck and give it my own opinion.

 

Agree or disagree with reports of week initial throttle response?

 

the inside I like a lot the dash had very nice textured plastic this one had the shifter in the middle and was a little cheap feeling but the rest was top of the line. the seats felt perfect better thanmy 03 , every part of the truck was better than my 03. had a good deal of chrome that looked great the only thing i didn't like was the handle for the supercabdoor you had to reach in the truck and grab a very thin handle to open it but the back seat is like a couch and has lots of room. As for the gas pedal you push it a little and it goes nearly no wait. I stoped it and mashed the pedal to the floor and it took off but didn't bark the tires but was quick and couldn't really tell when it shifted, very smooth. back to the inside there was the overhead rail thing but this truck only came with one sunglass compartment. and that was all there was. I also now remember that i didn't see a outside temp or compass. they also have f150 printed into the window behind the mirror like the superdutys do. but all in all the interior is tops and fits like a glove. i don't know whey no one else has these the dealership is a small one and like I said i could have bought it if i had the cash so its not like it was a demo from ford.

You have to remember with engine break in, it will get faster. Set in a Lariat today looked like I should have been in a Lincoln Town Car or something like that. Very nice!!

I also saw my first one today and oh my GOD!!!! Its the most beautiful thing Ive ever seen. Black FX4 Supercab. I think anyone who gripes and moans about this new truck should be shot. Theres just nothing to complain about. I specifically went through every bad comment said on this forum and found them to be wrong. Just My Opinion of course. By the way, the dealership was closed so I couldnt drive it but for some reason, they left the truck unlocked so I took advantage of the opportunity and sat in all the seats. The back of the Supercab is very comfortable, lots of room. OK, OK, I do have 1 complaint, the leather didnt seem very nice, more like vynlle to me. Im not getting leather so it doesnt matter. Over all, I give it a 10 without even driving it.

 

You were right on the money about the vinyl like feel to the leather interior. The back seat is "premium vinyl" on all leather interiors (lariat or FX4), and it looks like it too. I liked the truck I was in in Columbia (Arizona Beige Lariat) but I didn't think the back seat was that comfortable or much different from the '03 model. All in all, I am ready for my super crew.

 

I understand that all rear seats in Lariat IS leather.

 

The rear seat in the supercrew lariats should be leather, but by the way Ford worded the brochure, it sounds like all supercabs w/ leather fronts will have vinyl rear seats.
