We have two at work, test vehicles - free courtesy of Ford. We do a lot of off-road and highway driving, they want us to put them through all kinds of conditions with lots of mileage. They periodically check them to see how they perform. It's great, but a lot of record keeping...

If I tell you something, believe it...

I can't go into any details about my position in the plant, but I know when, what, & the why's, that happens here at Norfolk. The trucks have been shipped, we are sending at least 2 trucks to each dealer, with 2000 more to ship Monday 8/18. I do drive from NC (45mins) because of the lower tax base. These trucks are awesome. The new chassis is going to rival the 250 & 350. I will check back periodically with more nuggets of info. Later

Joe Machens in Columbia Mo has them for sale, it was hard not to drive off the lot with one today, but am waiting on a better selection. They do look nice almost forgot I was in a truck.

I talked to a local dealer on Thursday. He said that no 04 F150 can be sold before September.

Is that true?

Tiger, Which dealer in Milwaukee did you see two at?

I had heard the same about sept 4th, but the salesman said I could take one home today. He was ready to do paperwork and everything even said they would do a special recognition for being the first 04 owner in town.

Thanks for the heads up on Machens in Columbia. I was able to jump in the car and get up there just before they closed. Guess I spoke with the same salesman cause he was ready to let any one of the three go tonight (2 white XLT and 1 lariat). Told him I was a super crew buyer but would like to drive the Lariat Supercab he had there on the lot (Arizona Beige), and he was more than glad to let me drive it. Sweeeeeeeet. The tan leather interior is a lot lighter than I thought it would be from the picture I have seen so far. The back seat is still not one that I would like to ride very far in and at 5'11", I am not sure what these six foot guys are talking about when they say it is "comfortable". Anyway, happy hunting, you will love the first drive you take in one.

Talking Suffolk, VA Man Takes Home F-150

The first F-150 was picked up by a Suffolk, VA man from Beach Ford. He bought the truck for his business (STX series) and loved so much, he put his personal F150 (PN96) into the work fleet & kept the P221 2004 F-150 for himself. Sounds like your local dealers are holding out on you.

Really

I think the guy in Virginia Beach was either a PR stunt or his was delivered before supposed problems where found.

No other delivery was reported until (notionally) one tomorrow whcih was a gap of several weeks.

It has been reported (by me) that a Ford employee said that Ford may have taken the truck back or inspected it in a "free oil change".

At a Ford Dealer in NJ on Saturday they had an F150 that they wanted to move.

They were trying to get me to buy the FX4 Supercab instead of waiting for the SuperCrew.
