Ok, I received my order confirmation today (ordered FX4 SCrew on the 18th) and this should solve all arguments. I only ordered ONLY the Audiophile stereo and the confirmation added about $300 because the audiophile requires the 6 disc changer. Guess you do need the 6 disc too. Maybe someone will get away with it but I didn't. I'm gonna have to pay for both, a $545 upgrade. Even at "A Plan" prices, not a cheap upgrade.

 

I don't know if it does solve all arguments. I ordered mine on 7/11 and ordered Audiophile only... no charges for the 6-disc changer appeared.
After reading these concerns on the board, I spoke with my dealer about it. He investigated and confirmed that it was included. One point he made was that when he input the Audiophile order, the software did not respond with a message stating that the 6-disc changer was required seperately.
Now, I've heard that there were issues with the ordering software matrix that has been used, but if that's the case I would imaging that Ford dealers would most likely honor what was intended on the order.... just a guess though.
I would, however, like to feel 100% confident about this to ease my nerves.

I had no warnings either when the audiophile only 581 was inserted into the system. My dealer also said it was included. But at least for me, when the actual order confirmation came back 10 days later, I am $295 poorer ($545 in all). Guess when the truck rolls off the car hauler onto the lot and we look at the stickers someone will have egg on their face.

 

Well, I guess we'll find out at some point... However, according to this "ordering guide" dated 7/1/03 (the most recent I've found), it says the 6-disc changer is included in the 581 option. See Page 6 (page 5 if printed)- Audio/Entertainment - under "KEY INTERIOR FEATURES" near the middle of the page.

Talked to my dealer today and he had just got a call from OPC to let hime know Audiophile ordering glitch had been taken care of. He pulled order comfirmation for my SCrew FX4 and the NEW sticker price reflected that the price of the Audiophile System is $545.00.. I think this puts this mystery to rest.

 

L squared -- wingn8ive still won't believe you but the truth is, if you want the Audiophile stereo, you will pay $545 for it. The invoice on it is $463. I am sure it will be well worth it.

I believe it (but I don't have to like it). I only wanted to get a definitive answer about this. I didn't want my truck to show up without a 6-disc changer and wait for one to be put in... I guess the question is answered.

...and it's a $475 option (retail) ($405 invoice).

Every thing I look at shows the 6disc inluded. So with the audiophile, what kind of speakers do they use? Alpine? Or is it even a name brand? Hopefully they have a quick hookup for XM too.
