Has anyone who ordered the Audiophile Radio System(581) ALSO had to order the 6-Disc in Dash Changer(58T). Placed an order with my dealer a few weeks ago and got the Audiophile as a stand alone option.($250) I decided to go on KBB and build the same truck I ordered to make sure everything was the same. Was surprised to find out that thru KBB, the 6-disc radio is required($295) if you choose the Audiophile System. Makes sense, because the Audiophile is an upgrade(my assumption) from the 6-disc changer. Whats puzzleing is the fact that I have an order confirmation from Ford with the Audiophile option without the 6-disc option. My only explanation is that since I've ordered a FX4 Super-Crew and it probably has'nt been scheduled to be built yet that no one has caught the mistake on the order sheet. Also, does anyone know what the Audiophile System really includes? I've read on the forum that it's includes a sub-woofer. Is that it?? Sure will be glad when the broshures arrive at the dealer.

Anyone actually seen or heard the Audiophile System? Is it new to the 04s?

 

It's new to the F-150's. They put an audiophile system in the Mercury Marauders, not sure if they put it in anything else.

 

The audiophile system is only in the Mercury Marauders as of '03 models. I currently own one and it is very impressive. Clearer and quality sound even more so than the Bose systems found in other makes.

 

i believe they have put the audiophile system in the ranger too.....

If I am correct, the Audiophile upgrade would include the 6-disc changer. I ordered a Lariat SCrew with the audiophile upgrade and it did not list the 6-disc changer as another option...

 

if it didn't show the 6-disc changer did it have a price of $250 (Audiophile only) or $545 for both 6-disc and audiophile?

My copy of the vehicle order just says 581 audiophile and on the ordering sheet I received from the dealer, it says "Audiophile (includes 6-disc, in-dash CD changer) " Order code - 581 But the whole pricing thing has me worried. When does less buy you more? KBB says you must pay for both the 6-disc and the audiophile. I'd bet KBB is right....

 

I ordered an 04 FX4 SCREW on 7/16/03 with the audiophile system (order code 581).
The dealership "did not" upgrade the "STANDARD" AM/FM Stereo/Clock/Single CD (order code 585)
to the AM/FM Stereo/6-Disc, In-Dash 6 CD Changer
(order code 58T).

The ordering Manual that is dated 3/17/2003 says that the Audiophile System requires the 6-Disc, In-Dash 6 CD Changer,
but it does not specify an order code for the 6-Disk Changer.

Question?
Is the AM/FM Stereo/6-Disc, In-Dash 6 CD Changer
(order code 58T) the same as the In-Dash 6 CD Changer?
The way it is written, it appears that they might be 2 seperate
items. ie...(AM/FM Stereo /6-Disc, In-Dash 6 CD Changer
(order code 58T) is not part of the In-Dash 6 CD Changer that will be part of the Audiophile System...????


I priced out my FX4 at kbb.com and also see the added expense of both the 58T and 581 order codes....
Any other thoughts...????

Most Dealers certainly don't have a clue.

The fact that we are able to order the Audiophile "System" without the 6-Disk CD Changer is either a mistake in the Ford ordering software (and they have not caught up to it yet, which is noted above by LSquared) or maybe my theory is correct.....

Here's my two cents (and by the way, glad I found this forum!!). The way you order it, you DO get more for less. Maybe they get kick back from Pioneer (or whoever this Audiophile is with). If they screwed up, they're going to be making an awful lot of fixes.

As far as current models, the 2003 either Expidition or Explorer (I THINK Explorer) has an Audiophile, if you'd care to check it out.

 

I just spoke with my dealer about this... he said that the 6-disc changer is required with the Audiophile option. However, when he ordered my Lariat, he only entered the Audiophile option and it did not respond that the 6-disc option was required (which may indicate an issue with the ordering software)... BUT on the order spec sheet I have (dated 7/1/03), it says that the Audiophile includes the 6-disc changer.

He's gonna check on it though....

Thats what I'll wait to see. I assume the dealer will call if Ford sees a problem with the ordering...
