ok, here's the deal. My dealer called me back and said the 6-Disc, In-Dash Changer IS INCLUDED with the Audiophile option (581). Apparently Ford made the change so that it will be inclusive....

 

Spoke with my dealer today and he has spoken with the folks at OPC(Order Processing Center,I think) and they told him that there is a problem with the ordering matrix software. The Audiophile System WILL require the purchase of the 6-disc in dash changer. They know about the problem and are in the midst of resolving it . Goes back to the old saying, YOU NEVER GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING!!

 

Be sneaky and quiet and hope they don't fix it before your truck comes :-)

 

That's exactly what I will do.... my dealer said it was included... the ordering guide, dated 7/1/03, says it's included... so dammit, it will be included.

I ordered a Lariat.
I ordered a 6 CD Changer upgrade
and
I ordered a Audiophile sys upgrade.

 

I ordered a Lariat also, and ordered Audiophile only. Since my dealer and all ordering information I can find says it's included, I'm gonna go with that. I'm confused, too, and wish a difinitive choice is made soon.

 

EDMUNDS has the pricing and options (as KBB does), but it indicates that the Audiophile includes the 6-disc, in-dash changer... I think it would be safe to assume that this was changed by Ford and the Audiophile includes the whole shebang....

 

The Audiophile is a SPEAKER upgrade only. I just spoke with the dealer today. So, if you have ordered the 6CD in-dash changer, then you can order the Audiophile upgrade.

That is why the 6CD changer is included.

I believe the upgrade is to a 6 speaker setup instead of 4 speakers.

Does that mean you have to get the 6-disc changer before you can get Audiophile...? or can you just upgrade the speakers without upgrading the deck??

 

why not just upgrade to Audiophile? It's $25 more ($250) and includes the 6 disc changer, which alone is $225.

But to answer your question, I believe 6-disc changer is required (included) for Audiophile.

I didn't understand that the $250 includes both 6-disc and audiophile.... my bad.

I'm calm now...

 

The audiophile system also includes a 250w subwoofer. Im not so sure about the six speaker, but I know it upgrades the speakers to Alpine----I think. The six disc in dash also comes with it.
