Competition increases in the full size market

I know this is the 04' 150 forum but has anyone looked at the new Nissan Titan. the specs look good. I'm not at all saying that I'd ever buy one but it does add competition to the market. Lets hope Ford keeps the pressure on to keep up to date and fresh with styling and power train advancements. From my information I see that Toyota is revamping their Tundra to include a 3/4 ton with a 5.7l 350hp V8. I suppose they had to have some sort of 350 CID for the Craftsman truck series. Its to bad though that solid axles are gone from ½ tons. there is something about a solid axle that says TRUCK. take a look.

are there any websites to check out this tundra you are talking about? also saw the titan,, really liked the little hidey hole under the bed,, doesn't look like it had many options as far as cabs go though

The Toyota info came from my local dealer, which I am a good friend with. He said that in their last meeting with Toyota sales management the development was progressing to compete rather than niche marketing with a less than full size truck. This year I believe they are coming out with a crew cab Tundra though. The Nissan, from what I have been reading will be offered at first as a king cab model and a crew to follow later in the fall or early spring of 2004. By the numbers it is 1" taller than the new 150 and similar in most other spec's. I hope there is one in Detroit so I can see it this week.

Titan may be my future

I had a Nissan 4x4 ext cab. before I bought my Lightning.
Drove it everywhere for (8) years and it never let me down. The only problem I experienced was rust in the bed, but that may have been from many drives on the beach.
I will be selling my L. in the fall and will consider the Titan and the new F150 Supercab. The deciding factors will be the cabin comfort and overall looks. Right now I'd say I am 50/50 on which way to go, based on the pictures available.

That Titan is UUUUUUGGGGGLLLLYYYYYYY

I drove a 98 Nissan frontier pickup for two weeks when my buddy was using my f150 to relocate his mom. The Nissan didn't have the nuts to tow a loaded trailer to Cali.

I could not wait to give it back to him. When he got back he kept talking about how much he liked the truck out on the highway and how much better it drove. Soon after the Nissan was sold and he drives a 150 now too.

Granted the Titan may be better with a 5.6 v8 but I'll keep my money in a 150 thank you.

I had a '99 Frontier with a four-banger. I can't imagine it could have towed anything bigger than a tent trailer. I'm happy to be going back to a V8 (5.4) with a '04.

Im sure the new Nissan (like the Tundra) will be a good quality truck... Unfortunately, the Japanese have continued to shoot themselves in the foot with absolutely hideous styling. Regardless how wonderful of a truck it is, I'd never drive a truck that looks like that! What an waste of years of development... Like the current Nissan Frontier (which IMHO looks like it was built by NASA as a moon-buggy ) Nissan comes out with a complete terd of a truck to look at, then acts as if they have designed the 'coolest' looking truck in history in all their marketing campagnes. I can't help but wonder if we're talking about the same truck! Those Frontier's almost make the Avalanche's look decent...

Soooooooooooowweeeeiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!

I just looked at the Nissan site in the interest of fairness, and I have to concur. All three vehicles look like they were designed by someone just awakened from a sweaty food poisoning episode. The truck reminds me of my old '99 Frontier with a god-awful front end, the van....well, I won't even waste time describing it, and what the hell did they do to the Maxima???? It used to be a decent looking car. Please people....they'll keep making 'em as long as you keep buying 'em.

1" taller than a regular F-150 or one with the Fx4 package? Either way I think it looks pretty hideous, and wouldn't want to be caught dead driving that thing regardless of what kind of power it has.

As a previous owner of a 97 Flareside ORP, I was hoping Ford would continue the 'sleek' look rather than copy there own F-250. The Titan is a good looking truck, albeit not in brown.

They have some pictures of it in Silver at nissandriven.com. I will be taking a serious look at this truck as well as an F-150 when they come out, but for now I like the Titan better. It has some cool features from the factory:

Lockable storage outside.
Factory spray in bedliner.
180 degree opening rear doors.
375 TQ!!!!!!
