Is there any way i can make work a 4r70w out of a 2004 f150 2wd on my 1997 ford f150 2wd.

Is the 2004 a Heritage or new body style? What engines are in both?

the 97 has a 4.2l 2wd and the 04 is the new body with a 2valve 4.6l 2wd

Nope. Different bellhousing patterns and output shafts. You can use a 1997-2003 out of another 4.2 2wd but 98 and newer needs to have a harness repinned.

same engine family? 4.2 VS 4.6/5.4
