I was just looking for a part on rockauto for my 2002 and saw that they sell long blocks! The cheapest was $21xx and they had 3 more offered, even a motorcraft long block for $32xx plus $1500 deposit! I was surprised!

Gotta wonder about "Famous Brand"! Just for grins, I threw the Motorcraft in a cart and calculated shipping to my zip code. Not bad, only $170, $193 if you want liftgate service. Looks like The Motorcraft has a 24 month warranty, the "Famous Brand) is 3 years,

My motor has a million mile warranty and 7 years on labor. I have already been beating on it. Had her pegged over 100 mph today for a little while

[I mean, on a closed course, in Mexico of course] 😁

I hope you put a thousand or so gentle miles on it first before beating on it. And an oil change wouldn't have hurt after the break in.

I think you got a good engine. Ford Tech Makuloco uses them.

When my 86 MonteCarloSS started burning oil at 107k miles, I had a cheap GM made in Mexico, GM Goodwrench 350 installed. It was a new engine that only cost $1200. It was replaced twice under warranty and the third one was a POS. I thought that if GM was selling them with a 3 yr warranty, they must be good. WRONG! So, I would not buy a cheap engine again, only the highly rated ones. Learned the hard way as usual.
