Changing the serpentine belt 2000 F-150 4.2 liter

I need to know if I have to slip the new belt over the fan first to be able to put it on the pulleys. Thanks.

How are you going to run the water pump if you don't put the belt over the Fan to get over the pump pulley to drive it?
Open the hood and take a look.
