New COP, now no power

I have a 99 F150 5.4 that had a water leak back of engine, passenger side. After research, it looked like it was the heater hose that runs down the value. I pulled the intake to find that it the water wasn't coming from the heater hose, but the evaporater drain out of the firewall, so I am guessing heater core is the problem. NOW, while i had the intake off, i decided to change the COP, plugs had been changed about 20,000 miles ago. I picked up Accel super coils from O'reilly's. Now the truck runs very rough, and no power. When i say no power, i mean no power. When I put it in drive it doesn't move and then dies. I put a scanner on it but no codes because the battery was disconnected, but it does show MISFIRES and FUEL, but again no codes.

Accel cops are junk, you should have got Motorcraft.

With that said, did you properly apply dielectric grease? You want it inside the boot, but NOT on the contact spring.

Accel Coils will be part of the problem. A quick search here will bring up many threads on that. Get OEM coils. Also you will need to properly di-electric grease the coil boots to stop arcing.

Hmmm, hate to hear that Accel COPS are junk, but i guess you get what you pay for. Yes I applied dielectric grease, but it was touching the contact spring. Can you tell me how to get the grease inside the boot and not on the contact spring?

Bottom line is you messed up in reassembly.
I don't think the coils would be that bad but are Chinese junk.
Put the originals back in for now.
Are you sure you plugged up all the coils to their correct cylinders?
Are you sure you connected the plugs to their correct injectors?
If you run the motor enough minutes it will show misfire codes and others if they are there in any form.
Air leak codes won't show immediately because the fuel tables must shift out of limits and that does not happen instantly.
Otherwise your just observing circumstantial actions on a cold motor.
You have a lot of rechecking to do before making any diagnostic decisions.
Good luck..

Thank all of you for for your replies...I decided to put the old COP back, which are Visteon, all but 2. I damaged 2 of the originals when removed the intake. She cracked up and ran great. I was able to return the ACCEL and got 2 motorcraft COPS. Plan to replace the others with Motorcraft. I agree that ACCEL are crap.
