It's for an option you don't have. I don't know for sure, but possibly power adjustable pedals. I know one of my trucks/Expys has one just like that with nothing connected.

I don't remember seeing that plug on mine. But I do have power pedals, so who knows

That's for a trailer brake controller almost 100% positive

Nope, a TB controller has 7 wires, not just 2.

What the plug is for I am not sure but the wires goes to the speed sensor in the rear end.

Looks like a brake controller connector, but it's not in the stock place, nor would it have black electrical tape on it??

The BC on my 97 F150 was right next to the ODBII connector right above your right leg when sitting in the drivers seat..

Also, there would be a 'blue' wire going to the back of the truck. Even if you didn't have a 7 pin trailer connector, it would go to the rear as far as the spare tire.

That plug on the adapter does not look like it will fit in that socket.
