P0453 EVAP control system pressure sensor high
Hello,
My truck hasn't been running right, it has been driving and idling very rough and shaking hard. Last week I had codes for a vacuum leak, a cylinder 5 misfire. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, coil packs, the erg valve and the two lines that connect to it (they were cracked). Now my truck is still acting the same but I only have a P0453 code. Upon research I found that it could be a fuel tank pressure sensor. I am looking for advise as I am trying to fix this myself. Thanks a lot! My truck is a 97 F150 2WD 4.6

The code 453 indicates an open circuit to the pressure sensor.
This would not normally cause rough running.
Your at a loss with any firm info now so a Scanner to look at live data is the next move or all you have is the 453 code.
Is it possible you have the EGR vacuum lines connected incorrect?
If the EGR is open even a small amount the motor will idle very rough.
Remove the EGR hose and plug the end.
If the motor smooth's out, there is vacuum to it at idle that should not be there.
Good luck.

Yea that EGR valve vac line is the green one. Should be connected at the top of the valve.
Yep, fuel delivery and your connections are worth doing. When you pull the vac line and if there's no change, hit the side of that new valve with a screw driver handle. A new one may temporarily stick at first.

HI, 2000 F150 Can someone please explain in the diag. Part 9: the evap emission canister vent valve is connected to an unmarked hose and what appears to be vacuum can. I can't figure where and how this actually connects in the system. Any help with this? Thanks!
It vents the system to the outside after the vapor is filtered through the canister. If it is plugged that could be the cause of the over pressure. My Expy had it plugged by a spider and dirt and I cleaned it.
Use a very small screwdriver and carefully pry it open. There is a little fine filter screen. Clean it with maf cleaner and make sure the hose is clear. I had to remove the complete canister. Also if there is a sloshing sound when you tip tha canister back and forth, then it is full of fuel, that's not good. The canister is NLA I believe.
Good luck.
