PCV Valve

I picked up a PCV Valve for my 2003 F150 with 5.4. The parts guy at the dealer gave me EV-248. My truck does have the coolant lines to the PCV. When I look up EV-248 on various sites it does not list my truck. The dealer parts guy told me it is the only one that he lists yet I see several others on the web. Does anyone know if this PCV will fit?

It'll fit the valve cover, but the coolant loop will be loose when you try to clip it back on. I had the same problem.

So did you just live with it or get the right PCV?

If you did get the correct PCV do you have a part number?

Thanks.

Most sites list the EV-238 for the 2003 F150 5.4 but don't say if it is compatible with the cold weather PCV system.

Anyone?

Who knew buying a PCV valve would be complicated.

Yea, I searched high and low, and just short of asking someone, I think I've looked everywhere. lol

The $50 one on RockAuto seems to be the right one, but I don't want to make myself a guinea pig.

I clipped the line back on the one I got from Autozone. It's not tight, but it won't fall off, either. I actually forgot I was supposed to be looking for a proper PCV until I ran across this thread.

What's wrong with the original valve? You *CAN* clean those things with solvent.......

In my case, I took it off to clean, and I think one of my sister's cats got to it and patted it away...

What interested me about the RockAuto one was jumble of vacuum hoses and coolant lines that came with it...

Right, that's the complete assembly. That's why it's 50 bucks.

PCV's are cheap so I just replace them instead of farting around cleaning them but since I can't seem to get a clear answer I will pull it and clean it so I can see what it looks like and if I can find a part number.

Maybe you can only get it with the whole assembly of hoses but my hoses are fine so that would be money well wasted.

Nah, you can get one from the dealer. It comes with an aluminum hose loop attached right to the valve, - nothing more.

I did the PCV valve this morning and it turns out that the Motorcraft EV-248 is the right one for my truck even though it is not listed as being so. I could not get a part number off the old one but the 248 was a dead ringer for the old one. On my truck the PCV slides very snugly into the coolant loop and is held in place by a clip that slids under the bottom lip of the PCV and over top of the coolant loop. If you want a new PCV and don't want to replace all the hoses that come with the cold weather PCV the EV-248 is the one you want.

Thank you,
I'm on my second day of frustration after getting the EV-233 that my manual and all parts stores list as the right PCV valve for my 2003 F150 5.4 only to find it is not the right one. Mine also has the coolant lines clipped around it. I did not want to buy an aftermarket one but have found no reference to the right motorcraft one until I came here.
