Insta-Lube for lifter noise

I am wondering if anyone has tried Insta-Lube. If so post you reviews. It's supposed to quiet the knocking and ticking by lubing the engine as soon as you turn the key. Its a pressurized system. I was thinking of trying it on a 2000 F150 5.4, since I have tapping occurring on some start ups.

What brand of oil filter are you running. If its a Fram or some cheapie from a lube joint, change it. The anti drain back valve has collapsed.

I was using a Motorcraft, had the problem then, just did an oil change and used Motorcraft oil 5-30w and a Mobil 1 filter , no change.

Should be a good thing. I've only known one person who installed one. This was on a 351 windsor many years ago. they were known for a little lifter clatter on startup. He traded cars often and I didn't get a full report.

Never heard of insta lube. They're probably new. Well, if you go that route, make sure your getting a pump optimized for prelube - low pressure, high flow. They are not always the same. I suggest you do some homework first.
A lot of prelube pumps are hydraulic gear pumps - low flow, high pressure - not optimum for sure....
Personally I wouldn't use them on a automobile w/standard power plants under normal circumstances. All you really need to do with these engines is to run the correct oil filters and good maintenance. They'll go the distance. However, -Prelube systems on most industrial engines makes sense....

If I was in the market for one again, the go to , -

BTW, - They all sound really cool lol. We used them on HE, - Cats, D4s, 6's. Pneumatic types sound cool as well. If any of you recall that Movie, - Maximum Overdrive; where anything with an engine becomes possessed. There's a truck that has the pneumatic system in that show. You can hear it run, prelube before start. Sounds just like an air gun lol.

But yea, hit varna first for info.

Also your engine doesn't have lifters, like the older push rod engines. It has hydraulic lash adjusters. It is common to have ticking noises in the valve train on cold start if incorrect oil filters are used, allowing the oil to drain down. Eventually it can cause lash adjusters to wear and get loud.

If they are still noisy with 5/30 and a motorcraft oil filter, they a pre-lube may or may not quiet them down, but if they're worn THAT bad, I'd just replace them.
