that bowl is part of the air filter. it catches the heavier stuff like leaves, and stuff. If i think right its got an oil bath setup like my 460 had. sucks the air through a pan of oil.

 

It's a prefilter for heavy dust before it gets to the actual air filter.

Thanks guys. I hate that I have to have a front license plate here in Nebraska. The front plate holders on these trucks are pieces of crap. On my wish list is a black Westin bull bar, with plate holder and a couple PIAA's or KC's mounted on it. I'll be painting my grill here soon, along with the rest of the black plastics on it.
