changing things up on a budget
I've got a used bumper sanded and painted in my basement. Yep, rattle can, but I've taken my time, prepped, sanded, painted, sanded, painted, painted, and cleared, and it looks like it will be so much better than the old rust pitted one. I'm changing things up a bit, so I hope it looks OK. I went to get paint to match, but of course Ford has six different paint codes for silver. Ah hell, lets just go black and try that out I had found a new painted black bumper on CL last spring, but hadn't put it on yet. I knocked my drivers side mirror into a pillar in my parking garage at work, f'd up the mirror cap last winter. I've been driving around with a missing mirror cap, and the replacement mirror was green. Did some sanding, painted it gloss black and the passenger side too, so I've got a black/silver trend going on right now. I sold my wheels and tires before xmas, so I'm just using my factory wheels and "winter" tires for now. I might plasti dip the wheels black and leave the chrome lug cover for now. I'm also painting a new valance I got a couple years ago, and will paint my grill insert black also.

I know, but sometimes you have to try something else. If I don't like it, I can try again. Body shop wanted 500-600 for a new ptm front bumper installed. So far I'm in less than $100 including the bumper. Plus it gives me something to do. Winter hasn't left Omaha yet, with no days above 50 for the forseeable future.

Some people must study pictures or something! It took me a while to even find out which picture it was that he saw some part of a tractor in! But that tractor does look awesome. I'm more interested in that than the bumper haha
OK, so you want the story on the Farmall? My Dad bought it back in early 60's from an Uncle of mine. He farmed a small 180 acre farm in the hills of SW Iowa. This was his favorite tractor. He did everything with this. 4 bottom plow, frame mounted cultivator, 2 row picker...This was his daily driver. We moved off the farm, and she sat in the woods for years. Mice had built nests in the cylinders, engine froze up. He tore it apart, worked on it, got her running again over time. Only change is a 12 volt system to it. I won't forget how it sounded when it started up for the first time in over a decade. It sounded just like it did when I was a little kid. I'm 43 now. We repainted it, but i'm going to do it again this summer. I wasn't happy with how it came out 14 years ago, and now I want to do it right.

My dad had a Farmall M. I had an A when I was little.
Got them from my grandfather, who spent many years buying, repairing, and selling old Farmalls after he retired from farming in Gering, Neb.
Thanks for posting the pic and video. Brings back a lot of memories.
