What MPG's are you getting with your 4x4 S-CREW?

I just recently got my previous white 01' 4x4 S-CREW Lariat back and so far am only seeing about 255 miles out of 3/4 tank. I wanted to know what you guys are getting so I know if this is below normal or not?? Thanks for the input.

What is the actual gas mileage - miles per gallon? What type of driving?

I just filled up yesterday and i calculated 14.69 or 268mi/18.24 gal. I drive primarily to and from work on a two lane highway and set the cruise at 58mph. Easily acceleration from stop signs. Up to three days a week take my daughter to school with a less than 3mi trip. I just ordered new sp-479 plugs, fuel filter, pvc so hopefully that will help. Thanks Jesse

There are a lot of guys that do not get that high.

I've had my truck for 6 months and have not gotten over 12.1 mpg. Majority of mine have been 10-11 mpg. It's not too uncommon to get around that (have seen people say that multiple times in the forums).

So which engine do you have? SP-479, = 5.4L. Yea, I can't see any calculations to determine mileage -Hard to say what your getting.

Your claiming 18.24 ? That is possible, but how did you determine?

Are you serious or joking?

His mpg was 14.69.
He drove 268 miles and filled up with 18.24 gallons of gas.

Miles divided by gallons = mpg.

No, it's not a joke. Glad YOU figured that out, - @ a boy.

Now it makes sense, thanks.

Yea, 14.69 is pretty close to average. Seriously. If you get everything just right, you may squeak out 16. - New plugs will help a lot. I suggest Denso Iridiums (fine wire for the 5fours), if your looking to set a record.

Even before the EGR passages plugged up, my son-in-law never saw any better than 16 with his 98 4.6 4wd s-cab with ANY type of driving.

Do not put anything except a Motorcraft PCV valve in - aftermarket PCV's don't meter correctly.

I have an 01 Screw 4x4 with a 4.6 and I average around 19mpg. I drive about 60/40 highway/city. But I also have a CAI, tb spacer, headers, dual exhaust, 33's and an Edge Evo CTS.

I gotta throw the flag

Not saying it is not possible to get 19mpg...hell Ive heard of 20+ with a tail wind. But, to average that on 60hwy/40city, is all but possible. Especially 4.6, super crew, 4x4 with 33's on stock gears. And I don't see how any of your mods are helping with fuel mileage.. Canned tunes on a CTS with headers, TB spacer and CAI... I can almost bet you lost mpg but gained a few hp.

How are you calculating your mileage?

I'd be willing to bet your averaging 14-17 on a good day.

That sounds about right.. I'm getting about 14-15 mpg out of an old 97 F150 with 243,000 miles on it on my daily commute...

I get around 10 mpg towing a #5000 TT from time to time.

I figure it's a 15 year old truck with almost a quarter of a million miles on it... No payments for the last 7+ years... Love it!

It's getting the same mpg's as it did when I got it in 2001 with 65,000 miles on it.

It costs more for gas when you drive a truck... But, it beats driving an econo box! At least for me it does..

Good luck!

Mitch

Miles per tank is meaningless.
