Meh... there are better ways to spend $230. I ended up giving it to a friend of mine who said the same thing I did - didn't notice a lick of difference.

It looks like it helps cover the COP's too. I'm gonna have to find me one of these. Ebay has one, $65 as of a couple minutes ago. Don't need one that bad.

yup I had the same idea when I got under the hood of an Expy this summer, but haven't gotten around to doing anything about it.

FYI they also have a 4.6L variety of the same cover

Not sure about the 4.6 but the 5.4 bolted right up in the stock bolt locations on the driver side, but it did cover the passenger side bolt hole so I couldn't use that one. The two driver side bolts held it in just fine though.

Based on what was on my 5.4 Expy crate motor the drivers side is held on by bolts and the passenger side has plastic Stands with ball sockets I assume pop into the cover.

Now that you mention it, you're right. The passenger side snaps in place like yóu described. This mod would probably fit your motor better than any other here on the forum.

Even with just two bolts, it held in place fine and didn't vibrate at all.

Noticed on ebay that the 5.4 airbox and tubing for the newer 3v motor sells for fairly cheap and is easier to find. I bet with enough creativity, it could be adapted to the older engine.

Bolted right on to my 99' 5.4 but took some minor trimming to clear the throttle and cruise cables.
