Mtywindshield wipers come one on randomly all by themselves in the off position.. Thinking its the switch and at some point I'll just put one on and see if it fixes it.. Anyone else ever have this issue? Usually they just cycle once but some times they actually come on until I play with the switch..

My exped used to do that. The ghost wipers. There was a write up about it somewhere on how to clean the contacts in the switch.

I let mine got for about a year before I fixed it... it would trip people out riding with me.

Can't find the write up but you pop the end cap off the wiper switch with a thin blade, take the screw out and everything comes apart. If I remember right, there is a spring and a few contacts in there. You clean with alcohol and a q tip, then dielectric grease and reassemble.

Hopefully it is that and not the multifunction switch. Think those are around $60

The write up had good pics, lemme try and find it again

It's not from our website so hopefully nobody throws a fit

Another vote for the Multifunction switch, but for some reason, my wipers acted up when my alternator was going as well a different time.

A year, -you sure they didn't think you were a trip? You may have even earned a nick name without your knowledge. Perhaps, Joe wipe me

That's a big switch. I recall mine going bad in my old 99 1 ton. The truck was still under warranty at the time and they left the bad part on my front seat when I picked up the truck. They replaced that entire selector switch.

That fix worked for me for about 6 months, then it came back even worse. Ended up replacing entire multifunction switch. Get an OEM from Ford if u have to. I got 2 bad ones from NAPA.

The first time I "fixed" mine, it worked for about a week and then started happening again. The reason is that I had bent one of the contacts the first time around while cleaning it. After going back in a second time and spending some time getting that contact seated just right, it never came back.

I think once that grease gets a dirty look, what it partially might be is contamination from wore out metal contacts...? I dunno. Mine was not that dirty either, just some gummy looking grease.

Doesnt seem to work for everybody but worked for me. Hopefully it does for jethat.
