What would you pay for this truck??

So I just sold my diesel and I'm in the market for another truck and found this what appears to be a really clean 1 owner 2003 f150 Fx4 with only 87K on it. I've talked to guy 2 times and he is stuck on $14,500, it may be me because I have been out of the gasser world for awhile now and not really sure what these trucks are going for but the price seems kind of high IMO. Now he said the spark plugs have never been changed, the trans has been serviced once around 50K and I'm not sure about the coolant. I know those 3 things are not going to be on the cheap side to get done, so what I'm asking is.....would I be stupid to pay $14,500 for this truck. Here's a link....

Thanks for any feedback.

Quick check at http://www.edmunds.com/ford/f-150/2003/ says between 7k and 10k. Keep in mind I didn't select all available options.

Needs a little bit of work, -Price is very high IMO. Personally, and I like that model year, -I wouldn't pay more than 12 for it. IF THAT!

I'm like you and like this bodystyle. Hell I even offered him 13K cash and he turned that down real quick. I really like the truck but I think I'm going to have to pass on this one and keep looking for another one.

Yea, he's asking to much for it. He should of took your offer as he might not see one like that again. His loss right there. Passing is the right thing to do at this point, IMO.

That is asking a lot... I'm sure you can do better than that, are you absolutely set on the 4 door?

The price is probably that high because of the extras he has in it and the mileage. This guy is an idiot for turning down your cash offer, though. I agree with jbrew, I will pay 12k if I am desperate and the truck is PRISTINE. This does not appear to be the case, and shame on him for not aiming those tweeters.

I wouldn't pay full book for anything. It goes down too fast.

I've had mine on CL (SW Michigan) for a week at $8000/OBO and haven't even gotten a call on it, it's a 2WD though. I'm sure someone some where would buy that truck for that price, same thing with mine. I'm not really in a hurry to sell it so I'm not stressing or dropping the price in a panic. There's a used car dealer around here that has a 4WD version of my truck, same trim and color scheme for almost 12k and over 100k miles that made me laugh.

Just like every other truck out there right now. They're all so over priced its ridiculous. I'll just stick with my truck and buy a car eventually. No way am I paying these higher prices for a newer truck.

To high of a price.. I bought my 03 King Ranch Supercrew with 77k miles on it from a ford dealer in 08 for 13,500 the truck was immacualte. The max i would pay for something that year and mileage would be 12 MAX and would be alot happier with 10k

Eventually the guy will come to his senses, and take the loss. My truck is paid off and I'm going going to eat at least a 4k loss, minnimum. Some people just can't accept reality, but if he's like me he doesn't have to sell it and can sit on it until he finds some one to buy it for the price he's asking.

Aftermarket mods do not add one cent to the book value. He must be holding out for some kid that doesn't know any better to love the truck and pay his inflated price.
