12 yrs old and going stronger.

Just wanted to post a quick pick and show what a little work can do on a 12yr old truck...LOL

4 months ago or so truck was keyed on every panel but roof and canopy by one of my sons ex-friends over a money dispute. Insurance paid to repair and paint the truck professionally and they stripped it down to pieces and repainted and it came out great. I paid about 15 hrs more in labor out of pocket to get a fender dent out, a bunch of tiny door dings and small hood hail? dings removed. They also fixed a few tailgate corner chips that started to rust and a clear coat repair from door crack TSB fix yrs ago.. Insurance said they would pay for paint time but not any chip/rust repairs and other that was not related to the vandalism that should be repaired first. This was very understandable...
After I got it back it looked so good I gave it new tires, tie rods, ball joints, shocks and a few other odds and ends that were starting to show use. We took the seats out and everything got cleaned and steam cleaned. It brought it all back to clean and driving new again.

Already had an offer from someone to buy it..LOL Came out from the store to find a business card from a guy who really is interested in buying if I`m selling....I'm not....

I wanted something that still looked stock but different from everyone else. Everyone has those wheels but not chromed I did it a few yrs after I bought the truck and sent them out to be chromed.

Thanks for the compliments guys. It was a lot cheaper to bring it back to new than buy a new one that's for sure...Best part is I have just over 110,000 miles so there should be lots of life left.

Yeah definitely a good choice. The front valance in Silver with depo fogs and the top bumper pad in red would make the front end pop. It would look perfect

I actually have a front bumper pad off a 2001 Lariat that is new in box it just needs to be shot in red since its gold colored. Never even dawned on me to have it painted when they were doing the truck!! I have had it for yrs too and just kind of forgot about it till you said the above. I probably could have gotten it sprayed for free and just paid for the prep time....crap.....

Something to be proud of for sure. These old Fords are fairly simple to keep running well for a very long time. Just gotta take care of it.
After 10 yrs or so, age creeps up cosmetically, -specially if it's been your dd and you live within the snow belt or harsh climates. Yea, those little dings add up, the little factory defects here and there and other small mishaps along the way. Getting "keyed" just helped take care of all that in a way. I bet it looked good beforehand, - a few flaws, but looked okay. She looks great now, no more dwelling upon those small imperfections lol. Very Sharp!

Now to find an old key, -perhaps a file as well lol.

It really did look good before too just with more dings on it and a little duller in color. The kid who keyed it we also know (but cant legally prove)also put screws in my sons 4 tires and poured mystic paint down his hood and roof on his mint shape 04 mustang a week before. The police and insurance company are waiting for one of this kids friends to hopefully talk..Insurance company paid out close to 6k to fix both vehicles in the end and they want restitution if possible. All over money he owed my son for damage to a bumper he was owed and got mad about it....
Its been a great truck since I owned it and now will be good for a few more yrs! The few mechanical fixes made it even better to keep for a few more yrs....

Thanks guys for the other compliments. I think it was worth it to get the rest of the minor body details fixed before the paintwork...
Looked like this at BS when they first started repairs. Long grey primer spots are where it got keyed before they shot whole truck. The smaller ones are the little defects I got fixed. The bed was still on in these pics but was removed when painted. Hope not to see it like that ever again.
