ECU on a 98 4.6 liter

ECU on a 98 4.6 liter

I'm thinking about installing a chip on my truck and it says it wires into the ECU but I have no idea where it's at any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I am prob wrong but for some reason I believe it is above the passenger side kick panel. Hopefully someone will give you a definite answer. If it wasn't 2 am I could probably give you a more definite answer lol.

It's referred to as the PCM, more so and wilderthing has the location.

Do NOT install a "chip" on a OBD2 vehicle - get a PROGRAMMER.

There is a website that has performance chips for 70 bucks and it says it wires into the ECU with 2 wires I was wanting to get something I can install myself but what would be a good affordable programmer that would increase MPGs HP and torque I pull a landscaping trailer and have heavy loads

get a bigger truck... you wont get (enough) power from a chip/programmer.

Do NOT get it! Its a scam! Those things are nothing but a simple resistor between two wires.

There's no magic $70 device that will improve anything. You need to spend several hundred dollars to make any kind of meaningful improvement, and even a programmer and tunes won't do all that much. You need legitimate power adders and a regearing.
