My 2001 4.2 Build Thread

Ok so first off i know im gonna catch some heat seeing that my truck is only worth 3k on a good day KBB price. but theres a back story to my truck so please read before telling me somthing my wife tells me everyday. The truck was my uncles truck he bought it brandnew and used to drive my cuz and i to middle school everyday in this same truck towed my first car i ever bought. so when i got back from deployent and my uncle said shes mine i figured why not give her new life, from everyday work truck, to everyday to base and back truck so that the back story and this whats been done and whats on the list of things to get done.

So far ive done DJM 4 inch drop springs DJM 6 inch Drop in the rear, Air Raid CAI
Throttle body spacer Taylor 8.8 wires Polk audio 10 inch subs with a 2k watt kenwood amp, jensen dvd head unit kicker tweeters and door speekers all round,
22" starada rims 305/40R22, Billet Grill blacked out all the emblems grill bumper and back bumper, Expediton Buckets with center console.

Plans well next weekend is a 4 day so im gonna be pulling out all of the interior and painting it all black and silver i will post pics and thats really all the budget allows for right now. so heres some pics of the beging till now.

day i brought it home

Good job man I love it. Simple and clean and the wheels compliment the truck just right. Some black harley headlights would compliment it well.

Lookin good!
I'm always jealous when I see someone do the center console/bucket seat mod, I really want to do that to mine but don;t have the gumption.
I drove basically the same truck for almost 7 years and loved it.
It's pretty easy to get attached to a vehicle, especially a truck, and especially when it has family/sentimental value, some people just don't understand that. Lots of people just look at them as machines, nothing more.
Saw a guy last night that did his interior black and it looked great, can't wait to see how it turns out.

The subs are two polk audio 10s rated at a 1000 watts a piece with a 2000watt kennwood amp. when i re due the interior im also going to be installing a capactior to help with the dimming of the head lights. also anyone running subs like mine i would realy suggest up your alt to a 135 from the 95 the 4.2s come with.

First thing that popped into my head when I saw the dash was "Stormtrooper". The rest of the truck is great just not a fan of white I guess. Is that the only white on the interior?

Truck looks good man, but don't get a capacitor it's an expensive paper weight. If your havin dimming, do the big three and if it still persists I'd ditch that Kenwood amp and get something with quality in it that's a lot more efficient. imagine how much better it could sound if you could actually feed those subs 1000 watts a piece instead of the strained 500 that probably puts out around ha.
