Headlight Switch

I need to know how to get the headlight switch out of my truck. I know that Alex did a how to but I tried it and it didn't work. Can I just pry it out or is there a certain way to do it? Thanks guys

I always pried mine from the slot in the lower part. Make sure to tape of the edge on the dash around it or use a rag as the paint chips/gouges real easy around the edges when popping them out. This pic from rockauto shows the clips on one from a side shot..

1.) Turn the headlights on
2.) Pull the **** out (it doesnt matter if you have fog lights or not)
3.) Underneath the ****, where you just pulled out, is a little slot. Use a flathead and pry off the ****.
4.) Turn 180* and install back on the headlight switch
5.) Turn lights back off, and on again
6.) Pull and the whole thing should come out.

That is for the 97-98 and maybe 99. They changed it to a pry out later.

Thanks guys. I figured it out. I taped off the edges and gently pryed it out with a small screwdriver and my pocketknife.
