2002 headlight switch removal help

Im in the process of fixing my gear shift indicator and I need to get the instrment panel out to get the indicator out of the bottom, but for the life of me I can not get the headlight switch out to get to the last bolt behind it. My truck is a 2002 FX4 lariat with auto lights and fog lights

Which one is it? I afraid im going to break the face plate off of the assembly by trying it patman's way. I have the part of the dash thats infront of your knees off so I can reach up and push the clip in but it still isn't poping out. Is there some sort of clip on the top too?

yes there are metal clips, you need to get behind the thin face and pry on the body of the switch itself

What part did you break it out at? The screwdriver part?

when I used a screwdriver to pry it off it came off and when I went to put it on I noticed It went on to easy and when I pulled out for fog lights the **** came off. After a closer inspection the piece that the **** attaches to broke, so the **** is fine but the assembly needs to be replaced
