Yea but, if that were the case, you couldn't pull any info from the KAM. It would be dead memory until reactivated. It wouldn't reactivate without that fuse to complete the circuit. Right ?

Hell Iduno, I better check my fuse

No, if the KAM fuse circuit was open, it would just behave the same as if the battery were disconnected - every time the truck is turned off.

All tables and stored monitor information would be reset to defaults and the monitor cycle would start all over again.

If the KAM is reset the gauges sweep on start up. Thats what he should look for. Then he knows its a bad fuse or some other connection issue.

Bottom line, it would give a P1000 at every start up. Right?

I'm trying to learn here, if I'm guessing wrong just tell me to shaddup.

If the power feed for the KAM were missing, then, yes, it would.

If the KAM is reset the gauges sweep on start up.
Interesting. I've not previously observed that nor have I heard of that behavior. I'll have to look at my 01 SD to see if behaves that way.

I suppose you could use these Mode 1 PID's to check, if supported ... just a thought

Mode / PID / Data / Description / Min / Max / Units / formula

01 / 4E / 2 / Time since codes cleared / 0 / 65,535 / minutes (A*256)+B

01 / 30 / 1 / # of warm-ups since codes cleared / 0 / 255 / N/A A

01 / 31 / 2 / Distance traveled since codes cleared / 0/ 65,535 / km (A*256)+B

wow. i didn't get any more updates to this thread. It's been 80 miles so far and the p1000 is still there. I have a scanguage 2 and read up that I can send hex code to get a code back that I would dicipher. http://www.scangauge.com/tips-and-tr...-scangauge-ii/

So i went ahead and did that and got a result.

It appears to be the EVAP because the "q" value was "4"

so i'm reading this drive cycle info here http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html

do I need to try to follow steps 2-14 as stated? It says i can only do this within the first 30 minutes.

You may have an issue with something in the evap system.

Did you CHECK the KAM fuse?

Please elaborate what am I not listening to?

the fuse is fine. I do not have any sweeping gauges.

I also posted that the scangauge2 I had happened to be able to run a command to pull a code to confirm which tests haven't passed and it appears to be pointing to the EVAP.

I asked if I had to do the entire drive cycle or is there a short cut.

Again if I'm ignorant, deaf or stupid I'd like to know so I can correct it.

Thank you
