Thanks! It's not clean enough yet though haha...

I have to clean up some of the wiring for a more factory looking install

Here is a better looking shot of the engine bay when I had the factory fan on.

I think I will look into this for my truck. Has anyone tried ordering the ebay remanufactured kit for $350 delivered http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flex-a-lite-...54401223534404

I am wondering if it is worth trying to save some bucks with the ebay kit, buy the new kit for $550, or put together my own efan with the lincon mark Vlll and a DC controller like some have done. The ebay kit has a 3 day return policy and I doubt if I could install it in time to know if there are problems with it. I like the shroud that comes with the flex a lite kit, but $550 new seems pricy. I think the problems with the flex a lite controllers have been upgraded, not sure if you would get the new controller w/the ebay kit thou, maybe they are trying to get rid of the old controllers on Ebay??? ANyone have any input of the best way to go to get a reliable E fan? Really nice work on your install, thanks for your post.

Looks decent, 10 to 1 it was returned due to the controller, which you'd get a updated one anyways. I've rarely ever had issues with re man stuff. Your call, I speak very highly of mine and it was a nice put together kit.

I know many people that have built there own e fan kit and used mad enterprises controller. Flex a lite fan flows the most air. The wiring and install is not too bad if you have a day and some good tools for wiring. I say a day because that's about how long it will take to do an install that looks factory. I am going to be going back and re wiring mine cause I don't like where I mounted my controller and need some longer wire haha. I like a really clean and factory look under the hood. Even though that will all change when I add my polished L swap in the eng bay!!!

I did mine the cheap way. I bought two 16" ProComp fans off eBay for $50 each, then a $38 controller from AutoZone, and made my own brackets using aluminum strips and hardware from Lowes. All in all, $150 total, and shes about three years old.

I may just go for the Ebay kit, I just got the 2nd half of payment for my old nissan PU I sold to a friend. That old truck was really solid, got 294K on the odometer. I like the f150 better, just hope I can get similar miles out of it.

I am interested in knowing if those that have installed an Efan have been able to document an increase in MPG. I have read the fan gets 10-12 more HP and some extra torque from those that have tested their trucks with a dyno test. I am going to be doing some towing and some 4x4 off roading w/ my truck, so I suppose that alone may justify the purchase.

From a money point of view, with gas supposed to be going to about $4.00/gal soon and my truck currently getting 16 MPG, I did a seat of the pants calc to see how long it would take to recoup the cost of the Efan. If the Efan gets 1 extra mpg, 17, then the math is simple. 10 gallons gets me 160 miles now, 100 gets me 1600 miles now and 1000 gallons would get me 16,000 miles. Since 16 quarts makes a gallon, then if the Efan gets me one extra MPG then after 16,000 miles I would have saved $250. If the Efan gets two extra miles per gallon (18 in my case), then after 16,000 miles, I would have saved $500. I think I did the math right?? Hope I have not highjacked this thread, but the install looks so good in this post and I am trying to decide if I can justify the upgrade. Thanks for letting me play guys.

I've only got a couple thousand miles on my efan mod (MkVIII fan/DC Controls FK-50P), but I'm seeing 1-2 mpg increase, w/ the biggest increase in highway driving.

Don't hold your breath. If you were very very careful and took some accurate measurements, you might be able to see a slight rise of 0.5-1.0 mpg gain. Nothing to write home about, but over the long run (say a year) you'll save a few bucks

I am going to have to do some more research on the efans. I like the mad enterprises site with w/ their options, http://www.madenterprise.com/All_F150.asp The DIY kit is the same price as the ebay reman flex a lite and looks to be a nice set up.

Maybe the way to go is the junkyard mark vlll fan w/ the mad controller for the most DIY save a buck approach??? I want the most reliable system for sure, it is the cooling system after all.

I've heard of many people having success with the junkyard fan and mad's controller. Also mad's complete kit.

I know, went looking for some Mark 8 fans or older Taurus ones, picked dry at the bone yard. Dammit. Fairlaner did an article and looks to be a nice setup, surprised he didn't post the link but it's relatively new. Like he said too, the hwy mileage is the noticed increase. Other benefits are quicker winter warm ups. I think it's funny being behind a car at the drive thru, my fans are loud and pretty sure people are like wtf? is that tornado sound?
