***help***

where is a place under the hood that gets 12vs of power ONLY when the truck is CRANKED?? i need to have a place to hook up to power the fans i have. it says attach it to my ignition switch but the only place i know where that is is in the steering column and i am NOT in a mood to tear that apart again

so i guess my question where is another place i can hook up too that will give my fans power for only when the truck is cranked?

The starter solenoid on 99+ trucks, one side should be ignition only (key is ON, doesnt matter if engine is running). But then again pin 71 and 97 on the grey PCM connector are also ignition only.

A quick way to get switched power is do a fuse "add a tap" attachement at the fuse panel under the dash on a fuse the supplies power only when the igniton is in run, not acc.
Get the correct size fuse tap to fit the small fuse size used, to feed a second slave circuit.
The slave relay will have one side of it's winding grounded and feed the other side from the fuse tap..
Use the second tap to feed a slave relay so you don't overload the tapped circuit.
Feed fused power 'at the battery' to the slave relay to supply power to your fan equipment.
Size all fuses and use correct size wire for each application and do the work so it has reliability and is safe..
Good luck.

I tapped into the fuse box underhood in a unused spot, a spade connector fit I believe. You can get them anywhere yes, that sells connectors.
