I have a GMC Van and one of the ONLY things I like about it is the real gauges. That is the deal though I'm sure its not an expense thing really the real gauges might cost a couple dollars different but its the customers asking why the oil pressure drops. I really like the temp gauge in that crummy Van and the real oil pressure is nice to. I have a gryphon tuner that shows actual temp now.. Bottom line I would prefer actual gauges or at least dont insult out intelligence and just remove them entirely and just have warning lights.

The "real time gauge" thing is more about the sending unit. I know this cause on my '92 E-150 I replaced my OE cluster with a Bronco cluster, jumped the oil gauge resistor on the cluster, changed the oil sending unit to an old '88 sending unit, and wa-la, "real time gauge". See vid below (top left gauge).

I saw this cluster online earlier and liked what I saw. Since it seems like these gauges aren't holding up, I'm gonna pass. Glad I researched first.

AM should have made these more desirable to tuners and used a 140 mph speedo and a 9k tach, plus numbers on the other gauges. Yeah, my truck won't go that fast, but it sure does look better. Heck, OE knows better than that. Look what they put on dashes on stock sporty cars today, 140, 150, 160 mph. Dang AM, you guys are an aftermarket company for the most part, get with it. Despite the problems I would have gotten one if they'd put bigger numbers on it.

P.S. A simple inline resistor could tone down the brightness to match the level of the other dash lights.

how do the factory warning lights and do you take it to the dealership to get the odometer working?

You take the circuit board from your factory cluster and plug it into the Autometer front assembly. The Odo is soldered onto the circuit board so when you remove the board the Odo comes off with it. There is nothing for a dealer to do.

I put one in years ago and not happy with the warning lights. Other than that Itz fine. I don't do much if any night driving so I don't know what itz like at night.
