Coobies5,
I apologize - my mistake. I did read your posts, but when I first looked at your picture, I didn't think the insert was the same as mine. I went back and looked at it again, and I do see the similarity now. My concern about putting the same type of insert back in is that when I took mine out, it didn't come out clean and it appeared to bring some head material along with it. I'm thinking if I put one like that back in, the hole may now be oversized for it. So that's why I was considering putting a TimeSert in. Over the next few days I'm going to check the other cylinders to see if there are any other inserts in the engine. Then I'll decide how to fix #5.

I did look at Advance Auto and the ones they sold didn't look like that one. Now that I have the insert separated from the plug, I might take it around to a couple of stores and see if I can find one like it. We don't have an O"Reillys in this area.

don't worry about it, it's all good, just trying to help when i can.

if that insert brought out some head material, i'd get a shop to look at it and possibly weld new material in it and tap it out to fit a new insert.

Get back in there and retorque them to 28 ft/lb or you are risking loosening and blowout.

Read #51 and #52.
