Cleaning throttle body question?

My truck is a 2001 5.4L with 86k miles, I'm thinking of cleaning the throttle body...how difficult is this? Would you reccomend doing it at 86k? Do you notice any difference by doing it? Appreciate any input or threads on "How to" Thank you!

When I did mine at 100 k it made the truck noticeably run better. Its not that hard. I plan on doing mine more often now. If you really take your time and scrub it good it takes 2-3 hours. I imagine it could be done in an hour.

This is in the Articles and How To section, in the index:

Be sure and use a tooth brush or similar brush to clean the hinges of the butterfly.

If you don't clean it, it can get so dirty that the engine dies and goes into failsafe mode.

Failsafe is only on the 04+ with electronic throttles.
