If you're lazy like me & didnt feel like replacing all the COP's and plugs yourself, what did it cost you do have it done?
At $50/pop we're looking at $400 in parts alone.

Figure 3 hours of book labor for the job, plus whatever markup the shop charges for the parts.
If you buy the parts yourself, you can get the plugs for about 4 bucks apiece, and a full set of Global or Uneek cops are about $80.

Only $80 for a whole set? Are you sure? I had one go bad a few weeks ago & When I called 2 of the local parts stores, they both quoted me $45 for 1 COP. When I called the shop & had the 1 bad COP & plug replaced, he quoted me $50 in parts, & 1hr labor. And when I picked it up thats exactly what I paid to the dollar, $50 + 1hr labor even steven.
So It all figured out right by that math.... That's where I got the $400 in parts, even if I bought them myself at the parts store....

there are a lot of people running them on this site, COP's are a very simple devise so they really dont need to be expensive, in fact the "aftermarket performance" cop's have been proven to add no power to a NA engine

Why would you change out all the COP's? When I did my truck I just put the same ones back on. The COP's are one of those parts that either works or it doesn't, and you'll know when it doesn't.
Of course by the time my truck made it to 10 years, but not 100k yet, I had replaced probably 6 of the COP's over the years. Without question one of the most poorly designed parts Ford has ever made.
When replacing them, either factory or buying new ones load up on dielectric grease as water is not this things friend.

Im well aware of that. The problem is, with my '97 once one went out, and I replaced one, they all started goin bad one by one, and I wasted time and effort and $$ trying to chase down which one it was each time. So Why would I waste time and money sending it to the shop to do them 1 at a time, or waste my own time doing them 1 at a time... on this 03? I learned my lesson on the '97 that that wasnt a fun route to take.
The first one went out on me a few weeks ago & I only had the cash to have that one replaced. It's very aggrivating when your going along and one drops. Replace them all, and I shouldnt have to worry about any of them again for the life of the truck, or at least as long as I have it. It's sitting on 124K miles.

Jbrew swears by the ones sold by UneekSupply I believe it is on Ebay. I bought a set of them 2 years ago and they come with a 1 year warranty if I'm not mistaken, well, I just had to replace two of those so I looked back at some things to try and figure out about when they went out on me since I didn't drive the truck for about 5 months before finally getting it fixed. Turns out, the earliest I can reliably trace back when I know for sure at least one of the two CoPs went bye bye on me was all the way back in Feb or Mar. That would mean they only lasted about 2-3 months past the warranty. HOWEVER, with that being said, first of all I still have the other 6 I bought off of him that are running fine and that will be 2 years this month from when I purchased them on his Ebay store. Additionally, motorcraft CoPs also only have a 1 year warranty on them.
But I still decided to buy two Motorcrafts to replace the 2 from Ebay that failed on me not long ago... the way I see it is, unless my buddy who sold the truck to me replaced any before me, then the Motorcrafts lasted about 150,000 miles before I started experiencing trouble with them. So in my own experience only, they have outlasted the ones from Ebay. Of course you must take the price into account to decide if it is worth it as well. But from what I noticed, even with the same warranty, I seem to have had better luck with Motorcraft so I stick with them. Then again, the fact that I get a discount on them from my parts guy makes an enormous decision since after the discount it makes them about $45-$50 bucks each. which aint bad but still a lot more than a set off ebay... but man, I just think CoPs are a component that should last a lot longer than barely over a year when bought new before you see any trouble from them...

So maybe like this: If you go for the cheaper ones on Ebay definitely spring for the whole set and do them all, or you can get the motorcraft which are likely better even though have the same warranty, in which I would only replace them as they go bad. If they really end up lasting a lot longer than you should be able to gradually replace bad ones (if) they continue going out with the expensive Ford CoPs and theoretically slow down the rate of failure until you switch em all out... hehe
Many on this site have used the ebay ones and had no problems. occasionally someone will report they had one bad one. If that happens replace it with one of your good ones you took off. Way ahead in dollars.

On my '97, one went after 5 years and I only replaced that one. It was another 9 years before the next one went .
Had I changed them all when the 1st one went, I think I may have been at greater risk of more failing (new potentially faulty ones versus the existing ones that were working fine). It's a bit of a gamble either way.
