Thanks for the kind comments I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I just never got off my dead *** to find a factory 4x4/fog valance.

My XL is wired for fogs from the switch to the firewall, but nothing from the firewall to the engine compartment fuse box, nothing in the fuse box, and nothing from the fuse box to the bumper. I added wires from the switch, and a relay to get them to work. I'm about half way done w/ a write-up on the mod ... hope to have it done this weekend.

The debris shields are made from some aluminium highway sign panel, bent and painted. The fog light brackets were threaded to make installing and removing the shields easy.

Test fitting, prior to paint ...

well i went out and tried to take a picture for you guys... but the combination of my unlevel dirt driveway and the size of my dslr made it pretty hard to get under there & take a clear pic. i'll have to try to find my little digital camera b/c i'm sure these won't help...

if you stand on the driver side and look in through right in front of the tire you'll see the whole where the wire comes through. it'll be wrapped in loom
in this picture, imagine the tire is on the right side, and the bumper is on the left and you're looking right between em, that's the perspective

but they won't be hanging out like this, it'll be just barely out and it'll be pinned up with a cover over the end. here you can see where i broke the clip that held it, but that's where it'll be it's right above the hole about 5" (the arrow points to the hole)

hope those help, gonna try to get some better ones wit a smaller camera.

If you dont see it, you probably don't have it. Its hooked into the header panel and pretty conspicuous when you look up there

with his foglights...? you're taking your HID/projector obsession a little extreme aren't you?

question... the headlight switch has by default 2 connectors in the back? so if my truck is pre-wired the switch will have 3 connectors in the back? I'm kind of lost...

thanks!

I'm not sure what you'll find on a '98, but this is what I found on my '99 XL ...

There were three connectors plugged into the original non-fog headlight switch ... the two large connectors (one gray, one black , both approx. the same size), which all F150's have for the headlights, etc. and one small gray connector which is for (among other things) the fog lights. The fog light connector was plugged into a dummy connector (no pins) on the original non-fog headlight switch.

A fog headlight switch will have pins where the dummy connector is located on the non-fog headlight switch.

Quite the opposite- fog lamps don't have any glare caps since they're designed for use ONLY when there is no oncoming traffic and in foggy conditions. When it comes to glare, they're worse than headlights.
