New Find

Oh yea, look what I got for $16 (from a 98 expe):

[IMG][/IMG]
It aint in the best condition, but someone had placed a door above the busted out from window, so not MUCH rain had gotten to it. It doesnt have the rear vents, just had the rear volume control. I had to get the lid off of a 98 Navi, so maybe I can find an upholstery shop to do the lid in maroon...

$16!?!

I think you have taken the new record for lowest Expy console.

J/k. That is a great deal man! Even though it's in rough shape.

Got any plans for it?

If I know the price was the same, I would have just taken the tan one (Navi)that the lid came from...maybe I can go get it and hold on to this one as a back up, I have to take the CD changer out of it...it still had the stock "plastic CD changer holder" piece holing the changer, and didn't have the time to careful remove it.
My original plan was to use a "generic" console (from the wives *looks around* mini-van) and make a speaker box under it, and have a little compartment above it, but now with this option, I actually have ALOT more room. So I think I will still go with the speaker box idea.
I don't know if all remember, but my truck all ready has a console, just the small stock one in between my buckets, so I don't think mounting it will be a problem.
We'll see, I have ideas baking in my head, but they will have to wait until I do some work in my back yard...got a bee/hornet problem under my back deck, so "No play until all your work is done!" As many mommas used to say...LOL
But I will definitely keep ya'll informed...and PM me if you have any questions about the console/consoles.

Nice find. BTW, in a pinch break, cleaner does a number on wasps etc. The straw can get into tight places.

Idk how the mini consoles bolt down, but I would imagine it is the same, as to limit the amount of holes to drill and brackets to make. But...if the brackets are different between the 2 consoles, did you get the brackets to the new console?

I got everything from the floor up. Including the yellow/white "brace" underneath. I would assume that under my carpet I may find (at least) 2 of the 4 holes under the NEW cup-holder. If I remember, I think the expe console was held on by 6 bolts. My "mini" (as you call it) is held on by 4
I asked a shop here locally just about dying the Expe one, when I am done, and they said Around $100 to dye and re-wrap the lid in MY maroon interior color? Is that good? or should I just PTM with the Dupilcolor cans I can find, and just have the shop re-wrap the lid? **And the shop owner said my lid is "vinyl"**

The console is still held on by 4 bolts. It should utilize the same mounting places as your mini console. The floor pan for our trucks and the Expy are apparently the same for the front seats.

If you check my thread, a guy posted a picture of his carpet where it needs to be cut to put the brackets in.

I think i still hold the record for cheapest...mine was free...with custom guages. haha

but as for wrapping the lid, i did mine on my own. really wasn't too hard. its definetly not stock with all the stitching and what not (and some wrinkles on the sides) but for the money i saved, well worth it for me. im more of the DIYer anyways. lol

and bolting it down...i couldnt get mine to bolt down. i got tired of trying to line up holes and what not and just left it the way it is. it doesnt slide around or anything (but i have it loaded down pretty good too) but mine fits pretty snug between my seats.

and i just painted mine with the krylon paint and it has held up great...thats the way i would do it but getting a shop to do it would definetly be higher quality in the long run.
