My last 2 vehicles i put stock fogs into, i wired them standalone with their own switch, so that i could have them on with the brights. I live out of town and do alot of highway driving, just a thought.

You don't necessarily have to get an OEM switch. I myself have the fog lights wired up separately, which allows me to use them any time I desire, whether headlights are on or not.

And if I'm not mistaken, the 97/98 trucks still utilized 9145 bulbs for the fog lights, correct?

Okay. You are probably right. I couldn't remember if the 97-98 truck had the same bulbs or not.

have you checked the prices from Tasca Ford Parts? They sell all their stuff for 10% over cost, so you may be able to get a break on the cost of the light switch.

Find one at a junkyard is very hit and miss.

I still think your best bet would be to add a separate, stealth/hidden switch beside your steering wheel that you can use to turn them on whenever you'd like. Just my $0.02.

The switch for a '97-'99 is different than for a '00-'03 (although they look very similiar in the dash). All '97-'99 switches will pull out (it's part of the switch removal process), but only the switches w/ the fog indicator are wired for fogs. If you get a new switch, it must be from a '97-'99 to work in your '97.

If you decide to go to a seperate harness for your fog lights, here's how I wired some grill lights to a factory fog light switch (you would run the wires to your fog lights instead of grill lights) ... Installed lights behind grill

Derek, 97-98 had 9006 bulbs, while 99-03 F-150s had 9145.

Thanks for the info fairlaner, I was wondering that as well, I think i've seen three different light switches at a junkyard so I was getting confused myself

okay.

Maybe what I remember was that you could use 9005 in both, since a 9006 is just a higher watt 9005...that may be it.

If I had a 97 or 98 fog bumper, I'd jump straight to 9012 HIR w/ clear lens
