Fog Light ?

Ive got a 97 f150 4x4 XLT that DID NOT come with fog lights....but it has the plugs for the 9006 lights....and my headlight switch turns all the way to the right and pulls up like it would work as a fog light but there is NO fog light indicator...I picked up two fog lights today at a junk yard from an expy for 5.90 a piece...went to plug em in and did the switch and they DONT work....got NEW bulbs and they still dont work.....What do I need???

You may be missing the fog light relay since they didn't come on your truck from the factory. I would check your relay box and see if the relay is there.

Its not a fuse it will be a relay. The Fog Lamp Relay is located in the power distribution box (relays). Which is the box in the engine compartment on the drivers side close to the brake fluid reservoir. the fog light relay is number 27.

If its the same as my dads truck we had the same problem putting fog lights on his truck. You may not have the Right headlight switch even tho it acts like it would work the fog lights the internals are different. So you may need a new fog light switch that is for the trucks that came with for lights. I would check for the relay first then look at the headlight switch.

Headlamp Switch
Headlamp Switch
Without Fog Lamps
Without Auto Lamps F85Z11654AAA $174.38
With Auto Lamps F85Z11654CAA $192.02
Contact dealer for most current part and price information.
With Fog Lamps
Without Auto Lamps F85Z11654BAA $192.00
With Auto Lamps F85Z11654DAA $192.00

You need the switch that has fog lamps. So if i were you i would go back to the junk yard and take the headlight switch out of the expy that you got the Fog lights from.

You need fuse 9 (15amp) in Battery Junction Box plus as stated Fog Lamp Relay in same box. Look for an empty relay socket on opposite side of box from fuse 9 about halfway up. It fits in sideways rather than up or down. Maybe layout is molded into plastic cover.

On my '99 it is relay R206 and that diagram is molded inside of top cover. It is the same part # as some of the other relays. Remember fog lights do not work while hi-beams are on.
