Lsd to posi

Hey guys Im just curious what I need to get when switching from lsd to a posi carrier?

Obviously I need a posi carrier but do I need anything else? Different spiders? etc.

Also 31 or 28 spline?

and if it matters I got an 8.8

LSD = Limited Slip Differential = Posi.... What are you asking for here? F150 8.8 is a 31 spline

im pretty sure you have 31 spline axles. the 28's were for explorers and rangers.

Lets not get lippy here buddy.

I dont have money to buy a new truck(4x4) but what I want is no more one wheel peel. I get stuck too easily on little stuff. So how do I make my rear wheels spin the same speed almost all the time?

Like just an example... If I were to do a burnout only 1 tire spins.
So how would I make both tires always light up?

you pretty much have to have the rear end apart to put one in.

If only one tire is spinning,
you have an open diff, or your L/S diff is wore OUT!

All I run in my truck is a L/S diff and she spins both tires ALL the time. A Limited slip diff in a Ford is = to a posi in a Chevy... So he wasn't getting lippy.

Cheapest way to go if your L/S diff is not working is to rebuild it.
You can get a kit for around 100 bucks.
But of course you need to make sure you have a L/S diff in there before you go buying a kit.

Phil

Sometimes when the roads are wet I can get my truck to walk sideways abit so that makes me think its just worn out. Also about 90 percent of my burnouts are one wheel peels where the other 10 percent are two wheel burnouts. I'm pretty damn sure its a L/S rear end. How do I know what kind of rebuild kit to get? But more importantly how do I make sure its a L/S rear end ?

Look at the door jamb on the drivers side for the axle code. B6 is a 3.73LS and H9 is a 3.55LS. Anything else is not an LS.

If it is an LS, then find a 8.8" Ford Traction-Lok rebuild kit online.

BTW I rebuilt my 8.8" Traction-Lok last summer and had a thread going about it, it should help you out too.
