Don't crank your tbars. That'll throw it out of alignment. There is kno reason to pay for an alignment when you don't need the tbar crank in the first place. You won't have to trim either. It's only one size up from the optional stock size. You can run 305/70r16 on stock wheels with no tbar crank and no trimming also. Also a 295/75r16 with no crank or trimming. If your using your stock wheel no problem man.

imo cranking the tbars is terrible. i ran cranked tbars for a year before going with the leveling keys and had nothing but problems. i replaced countless tierod ends, idler arms, and wheel bearings in that time, heck it got so bad the the local advanced auto parts stop granting me a lifetime replacement on the parts due to how many times they "failed". if you are going to get new tires go with the 285/75/16, and get a set of leveling keys. they run about hundred dollars and imo will save you a giant headache. since your in school for automotive mechanics, just throw in the leveling keys when you get the tires on and like you said a free alignment. and voila you have an awsome start to a bada** rig.
here is a link to a few choices of leveling keys.....

To the OP, DON'T do this. those things are terrible plus you can do pretty much the same thing for free by cranking the t-bars.

yea i agree dont buy aftermarket keys. its a waste of money and both my truck and my dads has cranked tbars almost maxed out and havent had any problems and it hasnt messed up the alignment. So feel free to crank them and my 97 was able to run 33s with out any lift or kits. just cranked t bars a bit.

Increasing the torsion bar preload is increasing the torsion bar preload. Period. The problem with the aftermarket adjustment keys is that they allow you to put way, way too much preload on the bars. It's like most things, a little is OK but if you take it too far, it will cause problems.
