Hi jbrew, yes BIG THANK YOUS all around!

That is how they are supposed to go on right? Slide right on and the bolt holes so basically line up right?

No problems today. Tried 4H and 4L in driveway today about 10 times, absolutely NO problems. Shifts are almost silent too. Much less noisy than they were.

Heres a good read, seems similar troubles on explorers. I found 3 headlines where guys talked about the motor not lining up with the holes on the transfer case and having no/intermittent engagments.

Yep, Position the motor / install 4 bolts / install coil wire + pin/ install the spacer/ then plug it in.

Sorry guys, its back. Tried to go to bank today, stopped to my buddys work to say hi on the way, came back to truck, shifted into 4x4 high, dammit, When I went to go to drive, it shifted into LOW as well and wouldn't come out! So I finally got it to disengage to 4x4H and drove it home.

I'm done with it, going to take it to the big boys and get the hot poker stuffed to me I suppose.

Maybe it is my GEM.

Made my mind up, next truck is NOT having ESOF.

Shět, I wish you were closer to Windsor. My palm pilot with Diagtek software connects to the ALDL connector and can read GEM codes and PIDS. It also has Bi-directional controls that can control outputs to the actuators including the tranny and T-case.

Hi JMC< you're a swell guy to offer something like that. Sure wish I was closer to you too!

Well, trying ONE MORE THING.....

I'm having the T-case motor warranteed for a another new one from NAPA this coming Tuesday. My buddy at the dealer thinks it very well could have been a bad one out of the box.

If this doesn't do it, then I have no choice but to bring it to the big boys.

Tried an experiment just now as desperation to get it out of 4L, I removed the sensor from the back of the transfer motor, and manually rotated it, The motor wouldn't move, had helper mess with dash switch, nothing, finally tapped on it, it worked and shifted into 2H, oriented sensor and re-installed, disconnected both battery terminals and lets see if this works when I re connect and start truck.

Man.........

EDIT:

That was a complete waste of time. Hooked battery back up, as soon as I put it to run it was clicking the 4x4H light on and off again. What a POS this ESOF crap is. I'll never ever ever ever ever own another system like this again. I was I had the shift lever stickin out of the floor board.

What would be the best way to 'reset' the system so it "forgets" which gear it was in?

Just went out and tried it again guys.

LOL and it works. This thing is SOO unreliable and sporadic its not even funny. When i shut it off it was clikcing between 2 and 4, and now its working a hour or so later. There must be something wrong with the shift motor. Now my 4x4 dash switch isn't lighting up either. What could that be? burned out bulb?

Do you guys know how to test the sensor through motor harness with a multi-meter? You like pins A B C should all have continuity in the 2H position, etc?

Thanks! HAPPY NEW YEAR

It's very easy. Just hit the tool / circle what you want / save it to desktop so you can upload it here.

Try it, you'll be surprised how easy it is.

By the way, the Snipping tool is in accessories. It's easier to put a short cut on the desk top.

If your using a MAC , I don't think you are, but you use "Capture" to do the same thing.

There's also a few third party's out there I've used in the past.
