anyone know where to buy an engine block(new to newish)

I am looking for a 5.4l engine block, the other option I have is to get on at a junkyard for $75 the only thing is I dont know the condition of it and all sales are final, so what would you do, get a newish one online somewhere or just take the chance with the junkyard one

For 75 bucks I'd take a chance on the boneyard one - if you are planning on rebuilding it anyway.

well bad news I decided, after finding a ford racing block on jegs, that I was just gonna go and get it so I called them up and they had already sold it and all they had left was a block from a 98 4.6 so i called up every junkyard with in an hour from me and nobody has one so it looks like I may need to start saving and just get the ford racing one seeing as it is brand new, the only thing is that if it is any better than a oem block

The Ford racing block will hold more HP, and that is about the only difference. A waste of money.

well when the opportunity was there to get the block for 75 bucks I was looking for just the block and I was going to buy all forged parts to build a short block and then I was gonna buy navi stuff to make it a navi engine but now that the cost of the block is looking like it is going from 75 bucks to 600 or even if I look on car-part.com 300(I have not called the ones that have call listed as the price), but at this point I guess what I am going to do is save up the 600 for the new block and at the same time keep calling up all the junkyard that quoted me that price as well as some other junkyards and if one shows up then I will jump on it if not then I will get the ford racing one

well I dont know if it is to much(seemed like it was) when I called my local junkyard for a navigator engine they wanted 2200 for it, and I would eventually like to turbo it, so would I be better off in that aspect with a SOHC 5.4 or a DOHC 5.4, so I know that I would need to rebuild the engine with forged parts with is mostly why I am in the market for an inexpensive block but since I was having a hard time trying to find one I am just on the verge of that screw it and buy a new block
