how can i do it?
i have a 2000 f150 5 speed. i want to install a remote start on it but you have to press the clutch to crank it. Is there something i can bypass or what? Any input will be great!
you can bypass the saftey..but its just that..a safety. i had a friend(not so bright) with one on his 5speed corolla...left it in gear and forgot started it, and it back into something...so you just have to be carefull.
Cause your everyday officer is going to know the diffrence when they take apart your dash....
All it takes is one time to forget

No but if you ever take it to a shop and when your truck goes off a lift it's your fault plus when you go to get it inspected. And it's just dumb.
I agree. If you are going to do the job, do it right. Personally, if me or my family were to be injured because of negligence, I would be more than happy to file a lawsuit and pursue any and all criminal charges possible.
Like mentioned, it only takes one time of leaving it in gear to hurt someone.

find the one Jake was talking about, made just for manual trannys and use that if you want to be on the safe side...
A parking brake that actually works within the snow belt , is hard to come by. Road Salt tends to have its way with that.
my parking brake is stretched looser than Betty White's....nevermind. But still, I have to push mine to the floor to get it to hold.
But realistically, how is a tiny starter going to turn over that huge flywheel, spin all the cylinders, turn the transmission and push a 4,000 lb truck? I've touched the starter relay on the battery once by accident with a screwdriver and the truck lurched an inch before the weight spun the starter to a stop

I don't even have a parking brake, -inside or out. Have one lock up on yuh in the middle of nowhere once, - freezin cold *** weather, - see how long it lasts. I ripped it out by the roots.

You could push it to the firewall and it would not dis-engage. Nothing I could do but press on, and deal with it once I had gotten as far as I could go.
Highway cruising wasn't bad, going through cities and stoplights was another story.
Every time I would stop, I would have to shut the truck off in neutral. To pull out I would put it in first gear, depress the clutch to trip the switch, and hit the key. The truck would bounce, buck, roll and fire up. All while towing a 17' bass boat. Did this over and over again till I made it to the lake.
Also did it over 600 miles for the return trip.
It finally let loose in a cloud of clutch smoke and died within a mile or so of my house.

They will get rolling under power from the starter.
They can even climb small hills with the starter, - in reverse. Works great for a bump start, try it lol.
