find the one Jake was talking about, made just for manual trannys and use that if you want to be on the safe side...
You have a point but the laws we bend don't directly relate to the vehicle as a weapon if you forget and leave it in gear with no parking brake.

It's hard to compare window tint etc to this issue and for the record Texas gives you 4 in outside the fender on each side for tires and im maybe pushing 3 in

Never put a remote starter on a manual transmission vehicle unless it is designed to do so. The Compustar systems have a manual transmission feature to it called "reservation mode". With this you will have the engine running with the key, make sure the vehicle is in neutral, set the emergency brake and remove the key. The vehicle will stay running until after you close the door. It will then lock itself and shut the vehicle down. If you ever unlock the vehicle before remote starting it you will have to repeat this procedure again.

Most of the higher end models of DEI remote starters have a manual transmission mode to them and if not they make a manual transmission module.

About 15 years ago I used to be service manager for all the Telephone Warehouse's here in Kansas City. I had an employee that put a Viper remote start alarm on his Toyota pickup with manual transmission. I scolded him for it but hey, it was his truck and his risk....so I thought. About a month later he was in front of one of our store locations showing a customer that he could put a remote starter on a manual transmission. He remote started the truck and....you guessed it.....it was in gear. The truck lunged the first time and jumped the curb. Because the vehicle didn't start the remote starter tried a second time and lunged again pinning him between the bumper and the front of the building. The truck tried to start a 3rd time and proceded to push his body through the bricks and almost breaking the large window in the front of the building. Amazingly because he was kind of a big guy it didn't hurt his legs too much. He had large bruises from his calves to his thighs but nothing broken. The repairs to the building however ran him almost $3000.00.

exactly KC. and recently there was a Mustang owner that had put remote stat on it and then taken it to the dealership for service. the story ends that he left it ingear, and then when dropping it off he remote started it and it jumper the curd, through a chain link fence and into a drainage pond
